CHAPTER 2 - THE MEET UP

CHAPTER 2 I awoke with body aches and nearly didn't want to get out of bed since I felt so exhausted. And now that I’m awake I've just realized that my room is so small, but it's still fairly nice, like what Martha said last night. I don't remember what time I went to bed last night since I was so weary. I haven't done anything last night, not even changing my clothes or taking a bath. “Oh, s**t! W–what are you doing there, Martha?” “Good morning too, Miss Ava!” “Good morning too, Martha!” “Fix your bed and yourself before going out. Breakfast is ready,” Martha said. My brows furrowed at what he said. “Fix my bed? I don’t know how to do that,” I shrug as I brush my hair. “Madame Connie has strictly instructed me that you must put away your own belongings and clutter because you have no assistant here. You can't leave the room if you haven't done at least one of them,” Martha said before leaving and left me dumbfounded. I shouldn't be surprised because that's why Dad sent me to Aunt Connie's. I shouldn't be surprised that he's torturing me right now, add to that is I have no idea what Martha is saying. Never in my life have I done these things; there are always people around me who will do all of the work for me. I don’t know how many minutes I stared at my bed because I still can’t figure out how I was going to start. I've taken a shower and cleaned up but I still can't get started with what Martha is telling me to put away. I just lay in bed before getting up again when I remembered who could help me now. "Jadeeee ..." I shouted when she picked up the phone. "What happened, Miss Ava? Are you in pain? Are you lost?" “Jade, I need help!” I showed Jade my bed and my luggage scattered on the floor. And I almost rejoice when he says he will help me clean up my mess here. I don’t know how many times I’ve been depreciated while doing what Jade tells me to do. One by one I did what I was told even though I scolded her many times because I felt like she was just torturing me. But I need to leave this room ‘cuz my stomach couldn't stop rumbling because of hunger. Before I left my room I took another shower because I can already smell myself because of my excessive sweat. Before Martha let me go, she checked everything if I did what she told me to do. I never saw Aunt Connie. When I came out of my room Martha said she went somewhere. So I was left with Martha who roamed me around the house and now I appreciate the beauty of this house in the light, even though it was almost old. "Martha, what's that place? Church?" I pointed to the far side like a hill. There was a big house in the middle of the hill and it looked like a palace. Small houses at the bottom surrounded it and from afar you will be really intrigued by it because of its beauty. “It’s not a church. It’s an ancestral house of Nash,” Martha answered. “It’s so beautiful. Can we go there? "I excitedly turned to her. "That place is forbidden for the people living on this hill, especially a Baker like you. So you better not go there if you don't want to be seen your aunt angry," Martha added before leaving me after putting down the snack she brought. I was disappointed when I look back at that place. It's a pity. It would have been nice if I could go there and take a picture. I would have posted it on my social media and not Aunt Connie's house, which looks like it’ll shatter any moment. From what Martha said I couldn’t help but be more curious about that place because I wanted to know why Aunt Connie would forbid me to go in that place. I don’t know what Martha is up to because a few people are kept on entering the house. I was on the other side of the house so I didn't have to go through the main door to get out or go to the other part of Aunt Connie's house. I get bored of sitting on the balcony, so I took off my hat and slowly walked out of the house. I saw some houses but they were still below Aunt Connie's house. While walking down, I couldn’t help but frown because of the uneven road I was walking on. Doesn't Aunt Connie have money to fix this road? As far as I can remember, our family is not poor and she has no children to spend her money on. "You're Miss Ava, aren't you?" asked a woman who suddenly approached me. I slightly stepped backward and pulled my hand away from her grasp. "Who are you?" I asked the woman in shock. Except for the two old ladies in the big house at the top of the hill, I don't know anyone here, so, unexpectedly, someone knows who I am. And she wasn't alone; another old man followed her, and they were followed by the others I didn't even know. Because of their sudden abrupt approach to me, I became terrified and suffocated. In fear of them, I quickly ran away from that place. I tripped a few more times because of the heels of the sandals I was wearing. I forgot that I was on the mountain and I shouldn’t wear these kinds of sandals. As I ran, I did not notice that I had gone far and I no longer knew the way back to the hill. Now I am in a much more secluded place and can't see even one person. Fortunately, it was still daytime, so I could still see my surroundings but I needed to get away from them because I felt different around me. I needed to get home because Aunt Connie might go berserk when she found out I had left the mansion. She will definitely kick me out of the house and Dad would really send me to the Philippines and I hate it. I would literally die in a place like that one. So even though my foot hurt I had no choice but to walk and find my way home. As I walked, my eyes also never stopped admiring my surroundings. This is the first time I come to this kind of place because I don't want to get tired or sweaty, so I only go to the city and party often. I never thought that one day I would be able to appreciate the things I didn't pay attention to before. You, b***h! Quit admiring, you need to get out of this place! Whatever was on my mind stopped when I saw what was in front of me. My lips almost parted as I looked at the river that looked like a small waterfall. Spontaneously, I moved my legs and walked closer to the side of the river and sat down on a rock. I quickly removed my sandals and dipped my foot in the water. "Oh, this is heaven! I don't know if this kind of water really feels so good on my feet or maybe it's just because I'm so tired," I whispered as I played with my feet in the flowing water of the river. I was having fun playing in the water when I heard noises. I would have let it go but the noises got louder from where I was and it wasn’t just one voice. “Fvck you! Preston, if I catch up with you I'll really drown you!” I heard the voice shout from somewhere. Who are these people? Don’t they know they are bothering my rest? Don’t they know they’re making too much noise? When I stood up I couldn't see anything so I just sat down again because they might be far away from me. Maybe my senses become sensitive again that I can hear them even if it’s too far. "Come back here!" "Stupid! Why am I coming back? You're just going to make me wet!" My forehead furrowed even more as the noise I was hearing got closer and clearer to my ears. "Wtf!" I cried when water poured on me like rain. I stood up from the rock I was sitting on, and the eyes of the three men standing on top of the rocks almost widened. If their eyes widened when they see me, then my jaw almost drops at the naked man standing in front of me. “Who are you?” a long curly-haired man asked me. “Who are you too? Don't you know that you are bothering me?” I responded angrily to them. The man in the brunet man bun approached me and I couldn't help but gasp as I saw him up close. I have met many men of different races and states in life but this man in front of me surpassed them all for no apparent reason. "Disturbing? You're the one bothering us. Don't you know whose land you're treading on? You're trespassing on our property if you don't know that." My lips are drawn into a thin line as I clench my hand at what he said. My admiration for him earlier was replaced by anger and annoyance at his antipathy. "Trespassing? There isn't any warning posted around your land so how will people know it's prohibited to cross that line? Is it still my fault?" I sneered as I roll my eyes at him because I could feel how strange they looked at me. But all my courage before suddenly receded as he came to a halt in front of me and there were only a few spans between our faces. "No one dares to question me on Misty Moon, except you. Remember my face, baby. I'm sure we'll meet again," he whispered before his lips finally touched mine. And when I opened my eyes there was no one around except me at the same time as the wind was blowing. My vision became completely dark.
