The two biggest mistakes I made in life were leaving the woman I was going to marry at the altar and what I did to the woman I married because of a bride exchange. If you asked which weighed more heavily, both were so burdensome that I found myself suffocating under the weight of this guilt every day.
When I went to the kitchen to change the alcoves and returned to the living room, I saw Berfin holding my phone. At first, I couldn't make sense of it. As I took a step toward her, a notification came through. While she focused on the screen, I called out, "Berfin?" When I approached, she burst into hysterical laughter. She looked up at me and said, "You've lost your last chance, Ali..."
That's when I realized she had discovered something.
