38 The Hard Way Philippe was a blur, his fist skimming the top of my head and making a sickening bone-on-bone sound as it connected with Clarence’s face. I’d seen Philippe outfighting Inge and kept Clarence talking for as long as I could. His neck-breaker hold dropped off me and I staggered over for a lean against the tram doors.
