Jewel never expected to hear from Ferris because he had blocked her. He wasn’t nice when he told her to meet him at Beverly Garden Park at the sitting figure bench.
She thought about lying to Rod because she knew he would insist on going with her. As Jewel began to speak, she became nervous and couldn’t lie to him.
Rod flies off the handle and throws out reasons Ferris wants to see. He told her he’s going with her and wouldn’t be far away.
On the way to the park, Jewel looked out the window, listening to Rod asking her to tell him everything Ferris said for the ninth time. She cut her eyes at him, thinking, “Nothing is going to change. So stop asking me.”
“If that bastard thinks he has the right to come in and out of Jewel’s life, he’s truly mistaken.” Rod thinks as he speeds up.
