Night fell quickly over the forest.
Ava felt it before she saw anything.
A shift in the air.
A presence that did not belong.
“Do you feel that?” she asked quietly.
Darius nodded.
“Yes.”
The forest grew unnaturally silent.
Then shadows moved between the trees.
Three figures stepped into the clearing.
Witches.
Their eyes glowed faintly red in the darkness.
One of them smiled.
“So this is the Moonborn.”
Ava’s heart began to race.
“How did you find me?”
Darius stepped slightly in front of her.
“Because her power is no longer hidden,” he said.
The lead witch raised her hand.
Dark energy surged toward Ava.
It struck like lightning.
Ava reacted instantly.
Silver light exploded from her body, meeting the attack midair.
The collision sent a shockwave through the clearing.
The witches stumbled backward in surprise.
Darius stared at Ava.
“You just blocked dark magic.”
Ava’s eyes glowed faintly.
“I didn’t know I could do that.”
The witches recovered quickly.
Their leader smiled again.
“This is more interesting than we thought.”
The witches attacked again, this time with greater force.
Dark magic surged toward Ava from multiple directions.
