Chapter 8 The Lycan King

200 Words
A sudden shift in the wind made Ava freeze. Her heightened senses picked up something powerful approaching through the forest. The air itself seemed to change. A moment later, a tall figure stepped calmly from the shadows between the trees. Golden eyes reflected the morning light. Dark hair framed a strong, confident face. Every instinct inside Ava told her the stranger was dangerous. “Who are you?” she demanded cautiously. The man studied her wrist carefully. His gaze lingered on the glowing crescent mark. Then a faint smile appeared on his lips. “Lycan King Darius,” he said calmly. Ava’s breath caught. The ruler of all wolf packs rarely left his mountain territory. Yet he now stood directly in front of her. “You are lying,” Ava said uncertainly. Darius raised an eyebrow. “Am I?” He stepped closer, his golden eyes still focused on the mark. “That symbol appeared after the rejection, didn’t it?” Ava did not answer. Darius’s expression grew thoughtful. “So it is true,” he murmured. “What is?” Ava asked nervously. Darius looked up at her again. “You are far more important than you realize.”
