Proposition

We reached the backdoor and he hit the button on his suit turning off the green glowing light. He pushed me through the threshold of the backdoor out into the rain. I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. This is it, this is how it ends. I'm going to die out here in a field down the road from my house. I shuddered at the thought of my dad looking for me. We walked a few steps forward, his hand on my shoulder guiding me, then he stopped abruptly. He then pulled the glove off his hand and reached it out in front of us. It was pressed flat against what looked to be nothing but suddenly it lit up blue around his hand. His hand was still pressed to the blue light until it turned green.  The forcefield I hadn't realized was in front of us opened revealing a door.  A small camera-looking thing popped out and scanned us. A robotic feminine voice said, Welcome back Captain Zander and prisoner.  The door slid open and he pushed me forward through the doorway. It was dark until he turned on his green light again. I had never seen anything close to this in real life. It was like a scene from a futuristic movie. I couldn’t even speak, I just stared in awe. He sat me down in a chair and said don't touch anything, if you try to run the ship will kill you. He said sternly. As if I could touch anything or run with my hands cuffed behind me. I thought as I rolled my eyes. I sat trying to not look as scared as I actually was. All I could think about was my dad and Trish and Morgan and how I’ll never get to see them again. I started to get a lump in my throat and my eyes were starting to well up with tears. I can’t believe I got myself in this situation. It was not like me at all. Just as I was about to lose it and break down he reappeared. He was walking around looking for something and said without looking at me, you are allowed to talk.  I sat there watching him. What does he want me to say? It's not like I'm here visiting with an old friend. Small talk was not really on my mind at this point. What's your name? He questioned.  Scarlett,  I mumbled. What was his deal I thought to myself as I watched him. He was acting like I wasn’t his handcuffed prisoner.  I looked around more closely and noticed that my surroundings were pretty trashed, not like a lived in mess. It looked more like a smashed wreckage mess.  I asked loudly not knowing where exactly he was. I’m guessing your name is Zander, at least that's what the lady's voice said at the door. I said trying to sound unfazed by the current situation. He reappeared holding what looked like a few small tools. You got it, Scarlett. He smirked. He used the tools to start poking at a panel in the wall. It shocked with a few sparks and then the lights flickered on. It lit the room up in a bright white that hurt my eyes. I squinted until I was able to get used to it.  I looked at this man called Zander in the bold white lighting. He was breathtakingly handsome. He had peridot green eyes and snow-white hair. Other than that he looked completely normal. With a pale white skin tone. He was tall and looked to be lean but muscular. I must have been staring a little too long. He broke my focus by asking, ``Are you alright? I felt my face heat up with embarrassment. Like you care, I scoffed looking around trying to focus on anything else.  Suddenly, I felt him behind me. He grabbed the handcuffs and started to remove them.  He came around fastening the cuffs back on his belt and sat in the chair across the table from me.  I have a proposition for you, he said calmly after he was seated. Oh yeah, I said, sounding uninterested as I rubbed my wrist where the cuffs had been.  I can kill you here or I can let you go home. He said with no emotion. What kind of proposition is that? Of course, I want to go home! I shouted. Yes but there is a catch, you will agree to help me complete my mission. However, you will not be allowed to tell anyone about what information I plan to share with you after I receive your acceptance to the agreement.  Furthermore, should you decide to betray me or disrupt the mission you will be terminated, immediately. Unfortunately as will I.  I stared at him with my mouth open. I couldn’t believe these were my actual choices. If I could even call them choices. As you have discovered me I can’t let you leave without the confirmation that you will not tell others of my existence here on your planet.  On my planet? I questioned out loud. Still looking at him dumbstruck. Yes, but I can not go into further detail unless you agree to the terms of my proposition of partnership. He finished, his face still emotionless.  I sat there quietly looking at my feet. The lump was back in my throat. This time I couldn't hold back the tears and act brave anymore.  My phone rang. I snapped my head up facing him, shocked. Was I allowed to look at it? Would I be killed? I thought. I didn’t move as I wasn’t sure what would happen if I did. Agree to the terms and you may use your communication device. He said. I AGREE! I screamed. The tears are still flowing. I couldn’t help it. T.E.S.S. remove the target from the prisoner he said loudly. Yes captain, instant kill protocol disarmed, said the familiar robotic female voice from before. Proceed with your communication, remember what I said though he smirked. I grabbed my phone out of my back pocket, my eyes never breaking contact with his.  I looked at my phone. It was my dad. I answered, trying to not sound like I was being held, hostage.  Hey honey I’m leaving here in about ten minutes. Is everything okay at home? Is our power out? Hey dad, I cleared my throat trying to get a hold of my shaky voice. Everything is fine. The power did go out and scared me, but I got the candles set up so I’m better now. I tried to laugh it off. Oh Scar, I’ll be home as fast as I can. I was gonna grab us something to eat but I can come sooner. He said reassuringly.  No, dad, I’m fine really. I smiled. I could really go for a big greasy cheeseburger since you mentioned food.  Okay, I can do that. He chuckled. If you're sure, he questioned. Yes, I’m sure I'm starving. I added starting to sound more natural. Okay then, I’ll leave here and see you in a bit. He said. Okay, dad see you soon, Love you. I finished hanging up. I set my phone down on the table between my captor and me. My dad will be expecting me at home. I said flatly. Of course, he smirked again. Before you go through, he added. He stood up and walked over to a cabinet on the wall. He opened it and pulled out a gun. My heart sank. I felt instantly sick. I agreed to the terms I said, as he continued to load the gun. Yes, I'm aware, but this is part of it. He walked past me where I was seated. He stood behind me and raised the gun up and pressed it to the soft part behind my right ear. I didn’t dare to look, closed my eyes tightly, and waited for my impending death.
