Stephanie's POV
“Ma’am, please”. The guard who retrieved my phone from me said.
“Please close the door, ma’am. We'll take you to his office”.
I sighed and put my leg back in the car then closed the door. I closed my eyes and tried to regulate my heartbeat as I heaved a sigh.
Honestly, I was terrified by what I was about to do but I had to show them that I was serious.
I folded my arms as the driver quickly made a turn which inconvenienced other drivers who were honking angrily. As we made it to the office, the car drove into the car park and I didn't let it park before I opened the door and walked out.
“I can go alone”. I called behind me as I stomped towards the building. I walked in and headed straight for the elevator.
I was pleased no one recognised me because they didn't know I was Donald's wife. I walked into the elevator and I was taken to the floor which Donald's office was on.
Just a few persons were in the hallway and I had to greet them with a smile. I made for his office door but someone stopped me.
“Please excuse me, ma’am”. She said behind me and I turned to her. “Do you have an appointment with your boss?”.
I just stood staring at her.
“Boss says no one should be let in”. She informed me. And just as she was trying to explain to me, a lady walked to the door, knocked and went in.
“But she gets to go into my husband's office, why can't his wife?”
“Ma’am, he requested for coffee, that's why…”. Her voice trailed and her eyes widened. “...his wife? Ma’am, I deeply apologize, Mrs. Harrison. Please”.
As she stepped away, I smiled a little and turned, walking towards the door. I knocked lightly and opened the door.
My head went in first and I froze at the sight in front of me. There was Donald, sitting in his office chair with the lady who had entered. She was sitting on him and they were both in each other's faces.
I covered my mouth to suppress a gasp as I immediately closed the door slowly, making sure it wouldn't produce any sound. I turned immediately and dashed to the elevator.
“Ma’am, is everything alright?”. I heard the receptionist call after me.
I didn't respond but instead, got into the elevator and went down. I hurriedly walked out of the building and towards the car park.
The guard saw me approaching and opened the door for me. I got in and he also did. The car drove out of the car park and we were soon on the road.
I still couldn't believe what I had just seen. I felt utterly betrayed and hurt after everything that had happened between us. But then again, he said it didn't mean anything to him after all.
I shook my head and swallowed, pressing a hand to my chest. My heart was beating profusely.
“Ma’am, the hospital's calling”. The guard informed me by handing the phone back to me.
I sighed, retrieving the phone from him. Mother was now awake, and I'm sure she was asking for me. I smiled at the thought of that .
“Hello?”
“Mrs. Harrison? It's the Hospital, Trinity Care Hospital”.
“I know”. I mumbled. “It's miss Norman, please”.
“Oh okay”. I heard her say and gave a short pause. “It's about your mother”.
“What about her?”.
“She woke up…”.
~Thank God. I sighed.
“... but…”. She continued and I paid rapt attention. “She slumped after we told her her husband, your father, was dead”.
Anger rose within me.
“Who are you to tell her that?”. I yelled. “Why would you disclose that to her?”.
“I really apologize ma’am, she was asking for you but since you weren't here, she asked for him”.
“You shouldn't have told her anything, you wouldn't have called me right away instead”.
“Sorry”. She stated simply and ended the call before I could even say anything more.
I looked out of the window and saw that we were passing the Highway bridge. There were a few cars there and everywhere was quiet except from the sounds of the passing cars.
“Take me to the hospital”. I said with my heart beating. Mother had slumped and I needed to get to her as soon as possible.
The car moved for a while before it slowly started jerking.
“What's going on?”. I was confused. No, no, no, this couldn't be happening. I had to get to my mother quickly.
The car pulled to a stop at the side of the road and the driver turned to me.
“I deeply apologize, ma’am, but I think the car has some issues”.
“So, what are you trying to say?”.
I asked, staring at him.
“I have to get the car checked, ma’am”.
I only nodded at his words and he got out of the car. A phone rang and the other guard in the passenger's seat also got out of the car.
I didn't pay any attention to him but he came to me after a while.
“Ma’am”. He called to open the door. “This might take some time, would you like to come out of the car?”.
I stared at him for a while before heaving a sigh. I stepped out of the car and walked to the railings of the bridge as I tried to dial the hospital’s number.
The railings were a little lower than I thought. It's like someone tempered with it. Maybe an accident happened?
I shook my head at the thought and turned to walk away. The hospital picked it up.
“Hello, miss Norman?”.
“Ye….AHH!!”.
I suddenly found myself falling over the rail into the water under the bridge. Before I knew it, I was drowning. Then everything went pitch black.

Donald's POV
I sat in my office feeling completely worn out. I couldn't get over the fact that Stephanie had handed a divorce document to me. She wanted me to sign the goddamn thing.
“s**t!”
I ran a hand over my face and reached for my office cell phone. The receptionist answered at the first ring.
“Get a cup of coffee brought to my office immediately”.
“Will do, sir. Right away”. She said and I immediately cut the line and placed the cell phone back in its place.
I laid back in my office chair and closed my eyes as I undid my tie. Soon, I heard the door open and someone walked in.
The saucer was placed on the mahogany desk. I opened my eyes and saw Tracy, my secretary. I sat upright and cleared my throat.
“Good morning, sir, here's the coffee you requested for”.
“Alright”. I nodded and picked up the cup then I took a sip and placed the cup back on the desk. I looked at Tracy who was still there and I arched a brow.
“What are you still doing here?”.
“Sir”. She started and rounded the table to meet me where I was seated. “You seem exhausted, could there maybe be some issues at home?”
“Tracy, mind your tongue. You're just my secretary”.
“Oh, Donald”. She said and sat on me. She traced a finger on my chest and brought her face closer to mine.
I closed my eyes and felt anger inside of me. I clenched my teeth as I felt her touch my face. I opened my eyes and whispered in her ear.
“Get off now or you'll lose your job”. I was now staring daggers at her and she looked pretty surprised. “I said…get off me”. I yelled a little louder this time and pushed her away from me.
“Get out and make sure to get your stuff too”.
I yelled and she got up, straightening herself as she dusted her suit and walked out.
I was so angry and I needed to blow off some steam. I got up and turned my back to the door as I stared out the window.
There was a knock at the door and I closed my eyes and clenched my teeth. It better not be Tracy.
“Please excuse me sir”.
The receptionist outside my office said as she walked in and closed the door behind her. “Your wife was here a few minutes ago”.
I immediately turned to her.
“My…wife?”.
“Yes sir, but she left in a hurry but didn't say anything”.
“f**k!”. I muttered and immediately dug through my pants pocket to retrieve my phone. The receptionist walked out as I tried calling Stephanie but the number was unavailable. I tried several times before but, nothing!
She was busy. Probably on another call.
“s**t!”. I muttered and ran a hand over my face. I couldn't go down because she'd be gone before I reached the ground floor.
I immediately went to my mahogany desk and picked up the office cell phone. I dialed the number connected to the front desk.
“Hello, sir”.
“Is there any woman walking out of the building?”.
A moment of silence issued and I tapped my fingers impatiently on the desk as I waited for her to respond.
“Oh, yes, sir”. She responded and I opened my mouth to reply when she added. “She was in a hurry and she just left a while ago”.
“s**t!”. I muttered and ended the call immediately. I tried calling Stephanie again but she wasn't picking.
I placed the phone on the desk and stood, holding onto the desk. My eyes were closed and my mind clouded. I immediately thought about calling Lawson, the guard who I appointed to watch over her.
Just as I opened my eyes, my phone rang and the caller ID showed ‘Lawson’. I immediately picked it up.
“Lawson, bring Stephanie back to my office”.
“Boss”. He called simply and I guess I heard his voice hitch. “Mrs. Harrison…”
“What happened?”.
“She threw herself down the bridge”.
