Chapter 18: The Proving

The day of Eli's proving had arrived.

It was a tradition in the Silvermoon Pack, every young wolf must prove themselves worthy of their place in the pack. They had to complete a challenge, a test of strength, courage, and wisdom.

Eli stood at the center of the clearing, his silver eyes glowing with determination. The entire pack had gathered to watch. Maya stood beside Kai, her heart pounding with pride and fear.

"Are you ready?" Kai asked, his voice steady but filled with emotion.

Eli nodded. "I was born ready, Father."

Kai placed a hand on his son's shoulder. "Remember everything I taught you. Trust your instincts. And never give up."

"I won't," Eli promised.

The challenge was simple but brutal. Eli had to track a wild boar through the forest, bring it down, and return before sunset. It was a test of hunting skill, endurance, and patience.

Eli shifted into his wolf form and disappeared into the forest.

Maya watched him go, her hands trembling. "He'll be okay, won't he?"

Kai wrapped his arm around her. "He's our son. He's strong. He's smart. And he's determined. He will succeed."

Hours passed. The sun began to set. Maya's anxiety grew with every passing minute.

Then, a howl echoed through the forest.

Maya's heart leaped. It was Eli's howl, victorious and proud.

A few minutes later, Eli emerged from the forest. He was carrying the boar on his back, his chest heaving with exhaustion, but his eyes were shining with triumph.

The pack erupted in cheers.

Maya ran to him and pulled him into her arms. "You did it! I knew you could do it!"

Eli laughed, shifting back into his human form. "I told you, Mother. I was ready."

Kai walked over and placed a hand on Eli's shoulder. "I'm proud of you, son. You've proven yourself today."

Eli smiled. "Thank you, Father. I couldn't have done it without everything you taught me."

Kai hugged him tightly. "You are a true Alpha, Eli. The future of this pack is in good hands."

The pack celebrated late into the night. Maya watched Eli with tears in her eyes. He had grown into a man, a wolf worthy of leading the pack.

He was her legacy. And he was perfect.
