Eli grew fast.
Within a few months, he was already taking his first steps. He had his mother's fiery spirit and his father's strength. He was curious, adventurous, and loved to explore.
Maya watched him with pride. She never imagined she would be a mother, but now she couldn't imagine life without her son. He was the light of her life.
Kai was a natural father. He was patient, loving, and protective. He taught Eli the ways of the pack, the importance of loyalty, and the meaning of honor. He promised to teach him everything he knew.
One evening, Kai and Maya stood on the balcony of the pack house, watching Eli play in the yard below.
"He's going to be a great Alpha one day," Maya said.
"He is," Kai agreed. "But not because of me. Because of you. You taught him courage. You taught him to stand up for what he believes in."
Maya smiled. "We taught him together. We're a team."
Kai wrapped his arm around her. "Always have been. Always will be."
The days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months. Eli grew stronger and more confident. The pack adored him, and he adored them back. He was the heart of the Silvermoon Pack.
One night, Maya tucked Eli into bed and kissed his forehead. "I love you, my little wolf."
"I love you too, Mama," Eli said sleepily. "Tell me a story?"
Maya smiled. "What story do you want to hear?"
"Tell me how you became Luna," he said. "Tell me about the battle."
Maya settled beside him and began to tell the story of her journey, how she had been human, how she had discovered her wolf, and how she had fallen in love with his father.
"So you were scared?" Eli asked.
"Very scared," Maya admitted. "But I was brave. And I was brave because I had your father by my side."
Eli smiled. "I want to be brave like you."
"You already are," Maya said. "You're braver than you know."
She kissed his forehead and stood up. As she walked out the door, she looked back at her son. He was already asleep, a small smile on his face.
Maya joined Kai in the hallway. "He asked about the battle tonight."
Kai smiled. "He's curious about everything. Just like his mother."
"I hope he has a better life than we did," Maya said softly.
"He will," Kai said. "Because we'll make sure of it. We'll give him a world filled with peace and love."
Maya leaned into him. "Thank you for everything, Kai. For loving me. For believing in me. For giving me our son."
"I would do it all over again," he said. "A thousand times. Because you're worth it."
