Chapter 9 ‘That was a good outcome,’ says Vince as he arrives at my desk. I’m getting good at the mind reading business. It takes only a moment for me to realise he is talking about his tribunal hearing and not keys. ‘The tenants didn’t turn up,’ he goes on. ‘I was sure they would because they argued about whether it was clean or not. The hearing was over in a flash. I showed my stunning ‘not clean’ photos and the order was made in the landlord’s favour. I had the cleaning costs and I was on my way before I could finish my coffee.’ He waves the tribunal order at me. ‘I am off to fax this and organise Wyatt to go out to clean. If only all hearings were like that.’ He laughs and disappears. A ping on my computer announces the arrival of an email from reception: The Monster’s playing up. T
