Chapter 7 The wonderful thing about this Monday is a routine inspection booked in with a tenant, Simone, who likes to be there and is only available on Monday. I am going to my favourite house. When I first saw this house, I stood in the entrance and thought, ‘I could live here. I could thrive here.’ It’s like a dream house. There’s magic there. From the front, it is modest. A very modest brick terrace squeezed between two others. There is not much land between the gate and the front porch and the little bit there is has been paved with grey slate. On one side is a white rose bush. It seems to flower constantly, as if it is happy and smiling on the world.
