REBECCA “KILL THEM!” Sheila ordered her wolves: they lunged at Wayne and Mark, but they stood ready, immediately engaging in battle. I wasn't stupid - I knew that was a way to get them out of the way so she could get to me. That's why, when she shifted, not only was I not surprised - but I was well prepared. The hatred and anger I felt toward that woman and the instinct to protect my baby allowed me to shift within a second: this time, however, I did not allow my wolf to take over completely. I didn't need her animal strength, her recklessness, her cruelty: my human side was very interested in giving Sheila a very painful end, and remembering it well. She, after all, was no ordinary enemy. It was because of her that I had had to leave my home - that I'd almost died a few hours later.
