CHAPTER 10

495 Words
Anna’s POV Next MORNING He is so annoying, but I was distracted by a group chat on my phone. I opened it only to see my friends texting me. Bella: Where have you been? Christy: It's been a long time, Anna! Anna: I'm sorry, guys. Bella: 🙄 You better be careful! Christy: Well, we are going to the club tomorrow. Don't forget. Anna: Really? 😊 Bella: Yes 😒 Since you ditched us. Christy: 🙄 Here we go again... Anna: Well then, I have to prep. Anna: I have to go. Bella: Bye. Christy: I'm not done! I turned off my data and took my Daddy’s credit card. I left the chat and logged into my Daddy’s bank account to withdraw money, but I found out the account had been blocked! Since when did this old man block me from enjoying his money? I called him immediately. "Daddy, good morning," I said coldly. "Good morning, my princess," he said calmly. "Dad!!! You blocked me from accessing our money!" I said firmly. "Our money?" my dad said oddly. "Fine, fine—your money. But it doesn't change the fact that you blocked me!" I screamed. "Well, baby girl, ask your husband," he said. "And remember, you are no longer my burden." He hung up. "Such a wicked old man, who doesn't want me to have peace of mind! Jim can get me cash," I smirked and left the room, searching for him. I met the maid downstairs and asked where Jim was. She looked at me and then told me he was in the study room. I didn't bother to knock; I barged in. "Jim!!!" He glared at me but didn't respond. "Well, hubby," I said calmly. "I need some cash; it’s urgent," I said. He looked at me and smiled. "Well, no problem, I’ve got you," he said calmly. "Thank you so much!" I said, but my smile vanished when he told me to join him at the company and be his assistant starting tomorrow. "What?! You’ve got to be kidding me. No thanks!" I said angrily. "Then no cash for you, my love." "Are you serious at all?" I asked. "I need money urgently." "Then work for it that all," he said. Really, all my hope is crumbling. First, my dad used my bank account, then that old man blocked it, and now this brat wants me to give in and work with him! slammed the door behind me, the sound echoing through the hallway like the finality of a prison sentence. My chest was heaving. Work? Me? As an assistant? I haven’t even learned how to brew a proper cup of coffee, let alone manage a billionaire’s schedule. I stomped back to my room and threw myself onto the velvet duvet, staring at the ceiling. My phone buzzed again—Bella and Christy were already sending links to designer outfits for tomorrow night. Each notification felt like a tiny stab at my ego.
