CHAPTER 7

I tried to eat something, but what happened kept repeating in my head. As I got up, Jim entered the room. He was supposed to greet me, but he just ignored me. He stood there as if he was waiting for me to talk. I grabbed my bag and left the house. I got to school late, and the gate was already locked. I stood outside for almost an hour until the gatekeeper finally let me in. I headed straight to my class, but what I saw shocked me: Matilda was hugging Jim tightly and pecking him on the cheek. I felt my chest tighten. I saw him wipe off the side of his cheek where she had pecked him. "That cunning b***h," I said angrily. But why was I angry? He is just a husband in name only, nothing more. Jim looked at me in shock, but that look disappeared when he walked closer to me. "What are you doing here?" he asked coldly. "I told you to stay home and rest!" "Rest?" I screamed at the top of my voice. "So you can flirt with Matilda in the classroom?!" "Flirt?" Jim asked, looking annoyed. "Let’s head home," he reached for my hand, but I pulled back. I slapped his hand away. "Don't touch me with your dirty hands!" I said and walked away as he followed behind me. He was a jerk after all. I stopped a cab and headed straight to my parents' house. Even though Jim called my name, I didn't look back. Jim’s POV I was in the class all alone when Matilda showed up. I was annoyed, so I got up to leave when she hugged me and pecked me. Everything happened so fast. I cleaned my cheek in anger, ready to deal with her when I saw Anna. She was annoyed. I tried calling her to explain, but she didn't listen. She hired a cab and left. I knew she was angry, and I was so worried because she wasn't well. I sighed and drove back home. I stepped out of my car at the mansion and was welcomed by the maid. "Good evening, boss," she said. I nodded and walked into the house. "Where is Anna?" I asked the maid. She just looked at me, confused, and said that Anna hadn't come home yet. I was shocked but remembered she had left before I did. I tried calling her, but her phone was switched off, so I drove back to her parents' mansion.
