They tied me to the bed. I fought and struggled with all my strength, but nothing worked. I lay there gasping for breath, desperately trying to think of a way to escape. My mother was still in a long-term care facility waiting for me. I had been far too reckless. They must have realized what I was doing some time ago. A short while later, my revolting husband came into the room. "Grace," Bastian said, "now that I'm looking at you properly, I think your body is even more beautiful than it was when we first got married." Muffled cries came from behind the gag in my mouth. I wanted to bite him to death. My gaze was dark, filled with a hatred so intense that it should have frightened him. He unbuttoned my blouse one button at a time. I twisted constantly, trying to make him stop.
