Part Three – The Geeky Wanderer Katherine's heart pounded so hard she thought everyone in the room could hear it. She stood frozen at the doorway, her face burning with embarrassment. "I... I'm so sorry," she stammered. "I was looking for the registration office. I got lost." The room fell silent for a brief moment. Then, to Katherine's surprise, the young man chuckled. He reached for his shirt, casually buttoning it as though nothing unusual had happened. "So you're the famous geeky wanderer?" he asked with an amused grin. Katherine blinked. "The... what?" "The geeky wanderer," he repeated. "You look like the type who gets lost following a campus map." "I do not!" "Oh?" He raised an eyebrow. "Then explain how you managed to end up in the oldest building on campus instead of the administration block." She opened her mouth to argue before realizing... He had a point. "I guess..." she sighed. "I really am lost." He laughed again. "I'm Josh, by the way." He extended a hand. "Third-year student. Business Administration." "Katherine." She shook his hand cautiously. "First year." "Nice to meet you, Katherine." Behind him, the girl finished adjusting her uniform jacket before stepping forward. She had long dark hair, confident eyes, and carried herself like someone everyone on campus knew. "I'm Stacy," she said with a warm smile. "Captain of the university cheer squad." Katherine returned the smile. "Nice to meet you." Stacy glanced sideways at Josh before looking back at Katherine. "If he's offering to show you around campus..." She paused just long enough to make Josh roll his eyes. "...don't believe everything he tells you." Josh placed a hand dramatically over his chest. "Wow. I'm standing right here." "I'm aware." "You make me sound dangerous." Stacy folded her arms with a teasing smile. "That's because you are." Josh laughed. "I'm only dangerous when people steal my fries." "Sure you are." Stacy turned back to Katherine. "Just don't let his charm fool you. He has a habit of dragging people into trouble without meaning to." Josh shrugged. "I prefer calling it adventure." "Exactly my point." Despite herself, Katherine laughed. For the first time since arriving in Boston, the knot in her stomach began to loosen. Maybe this university wouldn't be so bad after all. Josh picked up his backpack and slung it over one shoulder. "Come on, Geeky Wanderer." Katherine frowned. "You're seriously going to keep calling me that?" "Until you prove you can find your way around campus." She couldn't help smiling. "Fine." He pushed open the classroom door. "First stop—the administration building." she finally felt a sense of relief, she had people that were talking to her and good how they were funny, they made her feel confident and comfortable,in Georgia she didn't really have much friends so Boston was starting to feel like a new change of environment for her As they stepped into the bustling hallway together, neither of them noticed dozens of curious eyes following them. The new girl had already become the latest topic of conversation.
