*Maddix POV*
I was terrified to look up. It was too soon. At least in my mind it was, but obviously the Goddess had other plans for me.
I noticed her starting to back away, and it was probably due to my lack of acknowledgment of what was just said, so I forced myself to look up.
"Wait, don't go," I whispered. When our eyes met, my heart melted. Before me stood a small, petite woman with long, curly, dark hair and piercing blue eyes. Her lips were full, and it took everything in me to not capture them with mine.
I scooted over to the booth bench, and asked her to sit beside me. She did as I asked, but didn't look at me.
"I'm sorry I reacted this way, um, I didn't expect to find a mate today," I tried to laugh it off. She glanced at me out of the corner of her eye, and then closed her
