CHAPTER TWELVE: The Known

"Juda!" The other man called out, "Stop it. We have to go! Liv's dead." The man stopped, and pulled his bloodied fists away. He glanced at their companion and spitted, "Guess we split the money in half now." "Y-Yeah. Come on, let's go." "After I kill this boy." The bearded man saw a wooden chair at his side. He staggered towards the chair, his panting heavy. He then dragged it towards the child; regarded his bruised face and laughed loud, "Should've minded yer business, kid." He drew the chair in the air and hurled it at the boy with every inch of force his body had! The chair scattered into pieces across the floor as a loud bang resounded. But as he looks down at his victim's lifeless body, something is wrong. The one he had hit wasn't the boy. It was the noble girl! Kana had jumped in to shield the boy from the fatal attack. She threw her body and protected him. The boy's eyes couldn't believe what just happened. His hands scrambled to shake the girl, "H-hey, w-wake up. Wake up!" But she lied with her eyes closed and mouth shut. "Ah, f**k!" The bearded man said. He stretched his arm to reach the girl and to check if she was still breathing. However, his arm felt a cold peck. He glanced at it, and found his hand lying on the floor! The boy had just sliced through it with the blade he dropped. He was seated and was holding Kana close to him while pointing his blade at the bearded man. He was huffing, but his eyes still burned. "You son of a b***h!" The man stormed his way towards them, ready to pummel the boy with his clenched fist. The boy wrapped his arms around Kana's face to guard her from the attack. Yet, the bearded man's attack never connected. A freezing wind passed him. He looked up at the man and saw him hanging in the air. A man clothed in what seemed to him were the most brilliant and expensive garments held his neck and is strangling him. His long light hair swayed softly. His eyes landed on the other middle aged man, but unlike the bearded man, he is nailed to the floor with a sword placed against his neck. The man who pinned him wore the same luxurious clothes. "Who gave you the order to abduct Amara?!" The blonde man yelled at the bearded man, his voice thundered with a deep growl. "f**k you!" He answered. Faster than the boy sensed, the bearded man was thrown into the floor as his attacker shoved his hand inside his chest. He clenched the man's pulsating organ, and clasped hard so that the man cried out in pain. "Tell me!" Aldrin's impatience reflected on his face. The man groaned and coughed out blood. He panted, "T-The D-Duchess. She- She paid us.. She paid us to take the girl and get rid of her. She told us she didn't care how we did it. Please, my lord, spare me! I was swayed by her offer. M-My daughter was sick and I needed the money to-" "What did you plan on doing to her?!" Aldrin clutched the man's heart harder, his nails digging onto its veins, "Speak!" The man screamed in agony. His vein popped out of his neck, creating a mess of blue and purple as his face twisted. There wasn't anything on his neck but it felt as if there was something heavy lodged on his throat. His body kept vibrating aggressively. The boy also froze over. He couldn't move or breathe as if something floated in the air that caged him. But he pulled Kana closer. He noticed the ground and walls to have cracks that weren't there moments ago. Maybe it was the consequence of being pummeled so much but somehow, he feels wobbly. The bearded man was still panting, but silent. Aldrin's usual composure had detached from his face and was replaced by a smoldering look as if touching him would automatically set one on fire. He growled again, louder this time that it produced an ear splitting wave, "TELL ME!" "W-We planned to sell her to the brothel." "And what were you doing before we arrive?" The man gritted his teeth. Aldrin grabbed his sword with his other hand and pressed it hard against the man's neck. He can feel it almost cut through his blazing skin as Aldrin's aura practically flayed him alive. But if he told the noble man the truth, that would mean prescribing his own death sentence. He held his tongue. And after a while of silence, the earth shook. The ground ruptured as if a quake passed and the whole structure vibrated until it fell apart. Aldrin took his sword and planted it on the man's knee cap, eliciting a hoarse cry. Aldrin didn't stop. He ran his blade through the man's stomach and twisted it. He began rending the man's pelvis, causing him to wail like a child. "I'm going to ask you again. What were you doing to Amara?" Aldrin's voice is perfectly chilled. His sword touched the vulnerable part of the man and was braced to chop it off with just one swing of his hand. The man's tears ruined his face, "S-Stop, please. Y-Your Highness, I-I was just following what the D-Duchess ordered." The boy clicked his tongue impatiently, and yelled, "They were going to assault her!" Aldrin swung his hand and something plopped off the floor. He clumped the thing he held with his other hand inside the man's chest, digging his nails hard that his fingers bruised. His face expressionless as he stared at the man. He pulled out his hand and a trail of blood followed, painting the cracked wooden floor red. The man felt his chest implode. He screamed his lungs out until the whites in his eyes took over. But he's still breathing. Aldrin's senses seemed to have abandoned him. He drew his sword and its sharp glint sparkled in the air. The next thing the boy saw was a head bouncing off the floor. Aldrin stood up, and said, "Kill him." The boy's spine shuddered. His eyes peeled at the unsteady back of the blonde man as his heart felt a million bolts rumble inside. Atlas didn't need his brother's command. Neither did he waste a second to fulfill it. He plucked his sword then thrusted it at the shaking man's neck, washing him with a deathly color. Aldrin faced the boy. He forced a smile but his eyes were still dead and cold. The boy held Kana closer, his eyes sharp and alert. No words passed between them. Until a group of men made their way into the decimated house.
