My head was spinning a bit at all this, but that final statement made me object.
“But Halloween isn’t at the autumnal equinox,” I said. “That’s September 21 or so, isn’t it?”
Grendel nodded.
“This is where you might have difficulty following,” he said.
“Numerology?”
“Yes.”
“Okay,” I said. “Fire ahead.”
“Well, you were right about the equinox. But there is more. Once the fall equinox is past, darkness grows until the yule solstice in December—which is the sun-stop, at which point the darkness ceases to grow and the sun, and light, begin to wax once more.”
I nodded slowly.
