I could see the panic on Destiny’s face as the noise from above kept getting louder. We both knew they were breaking through. She kept trying to laugh and tell me they weren’t going to find me, to shatter my confidence but both knew that someone was closing in on here. Hopefully they were on my side, as I hadn’t recognised the voices above me all night.
The noise stopped abruptly and everything was silent. Destiny was braced at the door, waiting for whoever broke through the ground to rush through.
