“Hello?” I answered cautiously.
“Gwen, this is Teresa. Did I disturb you?” Her voice was soft, almost tentative.
“Oh—no, no. I was just getting ready for school,” I replied quickly and then instantly regretted it. She didn’t know I was a teacher. Why would she? My own husband didn’t seem to care enough to ask. Of course, his mother wouldn’t know.
