Chapter 5
Annie's pov
“Annie, how do you mean I slept with you last night?” Massimo's voice was low and menacing and his brows curved in confusion.
The glitter in my eyes darkened and my lips dropped, sagging in confusion.
“I was with you last night, and we...” I stuttered.
How did we even get here? I came to see him for something else but ended up bringing up our intimacy because he was acting weird… like nothing happened.
I was losing my sanity. The video… who could have tampered with it? The divorce… who's going to help me? Why is he acting up too?
Goosebumps covered my arms and I tensed up. My lips moved as I tried to speak but I couldn't find the right word.
Massimo remained on his seat staring at me like I was a ghost.
How could he deny what he had last night? He took my innocence.
“Massimo, you were at the Casino last night, remember ?” I asked, my voice barely audible.
I shut my eyes praying earnestly for the truth.
“Yes I was there yesterday,” He said. I shut my eyes in relief but he continued.
“But not till night,” he said simply… the words that shattered my heart.
“Annie, listen! Yesterday was your wedding, and the only person that you should have hot sessions of love making with is your husband not me- your boss!” He glared and banged his fist loudly on the desk.
“Wait. Why were you at the Casino? Did you go with your husband?” He demanded, looking straight at me.
“I … I went alone… I wanted to cool off and it felt safe there.” At this point I couldn’t tell him about Smith's scandal.
“Help me, Massimo. Tell me the truth, we made love yesterday and did you go through my phone?”
I must have sounded like a fool but every part of me wanted him to say he was the one and he would help me with the divorce, perhaps protect me from Smith.
“Annie, if I were the one, I won't deny the truth,” He said coldly, and at that point, my world crumbled in front of me.
I blinked repeatedly, searching for the lie in his eye.
“Annie, this is a joke, right? Are you saying that you came to the casino last night and you slept with someone thinking it was me?”
Massimo demanded.
I nodded, not knowing how else to answer him.
“You must be deadly drunk to have mistaken someone else for me. It was not me you saw at the Royal Casino”. He said reaching out to his vodka, the same bottles he gave me to drink last night.
My heart stopped beating for a second. I couldn't hold it anymore, and my tears began to flow endlessly.
“ I am not a kid!” I was with you last night and we f**k, all through the night till I f*****g passed out.
Massimo looked at me speechlessly.
“Do you think I'm crazy?” I protested
”Annie!” He yelled, pulling out a rifle from his back pocket.
His eyes told me, “One more word from you, and I would pull the trigger.
I scampered backwards. My lips vibrated repeatedly but I couldn't utter a word.
What does Massimo stand to gain in denying our…
I thought I was more than just a secretary to him last night. I thought I wouldn't regret it
“Did the Hollands put you up to this! Are you trying to set me up?” He gritted, his eyes spewing fire.
My eyes widened and I shook my head nonstop, shaking in fear. “No! That is how it looks right now… but ...” I tried to hold his hand, but he jerked it off.
“The Hollands didn't put me to it. I was at the casino last night because …” I stuttered.
“Spill it!” He yelled with his finger on the trigger. I went pale. Tears stung in my eyes and my lips trembled.
Memories of the previous flooded in. Massimo's face flashed in my head again.
How can I not remember the face of the guy who made me scream in pleasure?
“I don't know what to do with you,”;
He gritted and lowered his rifle.
“Boss! It wasn't just a random guy! It was you!” I screamed like a madwoman, daring to look into his eyes. I was losing it.
His eyes darkened and he drummed his fingers on the rifle but didn't pull it out.
“He has blue ocean eyes, very much as deep as yours! Sharp jawline, your height, your physique, your damn body! He emitted the same aura with you, Massaimo!
Massimo blinked with his eyes vacant and void of emotions.
