Chapter 4
Annie's POV
The ray of light beamed brightly across the mini blinds. My stomach churned badly and my head thudded repeatedly. I was burning up.
I couldn’t hold it down. I rushed to the bathroom to throw up.
I struggled to empty my stomach as the whole room reeked of alcohol. My breath stank. I spat and rinsed my mouth before I crawled back to the bed covering myself with a spread to resume sleep.
That moment my phone buzzed loudly. My hands rampaged the bedspread and It felt quite different and smelled Italian.
“Where are you!? You b***h! You must go back to your husband and stay with him! You are his wife and you should thank your sister for helping. We need Holland's money!” My mother yelled over the phone.
“Oh my goodness!” My eyes opened widely. I wasn't dreaming. Where the heck am I?
Memories of the previous night though flooded in.
Then, Massimo… last night? No way! I denied it but my body ached badly and I felt sore down there.
I looked around for any sign of him but he left with no traces, not even a note. I sighed heavily, not like I expected it.
“Slut!, Where are you?” Mother yelled again, bringing me out of my reverie.
I fumed in anger. I couldn't believe my mother and sister were in this together. How could they?
“Mother! Did you hear yourself!? I am done! Carrie can get his money for you. For all I care, she can go marry him! I retorted.
“When did you start talking back to me? You fool!” Mother yelled again.
I would have denied her being my mother if I hadn't grown up with her. Tears beamed in my eyes but I sniffed them away.
“Mom, I am getting a divorce okay! Carrie is the real slut and home wrecker here!” I added lastly, trying to hang up
“You dare not! If you ever divorce Smith I will disown you completely. You brat!” My mother threatened again and I hung up.
I let out a funny smirk. She had threatened to disown me several times and I don't feel scared anymore.
I struggled out of bed, picked up my robe, and stepped out of the casino before anyone noticed me.

“Is this how you walked out Annie?” Smith thundered at me halfway up the stairs.
“Where did you sleep last night?” He demanded hastily as he caught up with me
He glared at my body but I didn't bulge, not anymore.
“Quit the act. It's none of your business!” I snickered, giving him a deadly glare.
“Listen I will give you the freedom you want. I am out of this marriage and you'd better be ready to sign the papers!” I yelled, almost jumping off my feet to hit his face.
He yanked off my arm and closed the gap between us. Grabbing me hard, he pinned me to the wall.
“Don’t you have any shame? We just got married!”
“Do you have no shame either!?” I blared.
“You have no f*****g right to end this marriage,” He screamed in my face. “You are mine! And I will do whatever I…“ He trailed off amidst his words, grabbing my neck tightly to sniff the air out of my lungs.
I never expected this side of him but I caught him unaware. I kicked him hard in his balls to get myself out of his hold.
“f**k!” He cussed and groaned in pain
“Don't you dare touch me! I'm no one's property!” I declared boldly with a sharp gaze and stormed off to the room. I shut the door behind me and let my tears flow.
All because of him I ended up with my boss last night and now? He threatens me.
I sniffed quietly between my sobs and walked to the bathroom, thrashing out my lingerie to bury whatever happened last night and scrubbing my body indefinitely.
I knew Smith wouldn’t let me go easily. He is a selfish man who cares about himself and his name… But my mother telling me to stay in this hell was incredible.
I needed help and the only person I could think of was Massimo. Would he really help me?
I thought carefully as I stepped out of the bathtub draping a towel around my chest. I decided to call Massimo, hoping he wouldn't hesitate.
As a mafia boss and a business tycoon with a tough exterior, Massimo knew nothing about emotions. The only language he understood was business and hard work. This accounts for the name and recognition the Westland had in the business world.
Over the years, Westland Worth owned multi-billion-dollar properties. Most land and properties in Italy and across Rome with other fashion houses in Paris, France, and other great cities in Europe are owned and controlled by the Westland.
The Westland and Hollands weren't allies but bitter enemies. They couldn't deal because they were stark opposite. Massimo was cruel, Holland was shady. This made them deadly competitors.
As Massimo's secretary, I almost lost my job when he realized that I was going to become Smith Holland's wife.
I called Massimo several times but I couldn't reach him so I decided to see him though I was supposed to be on break for my wedding.
I messaged my lawyer about my intention for divorce and as expected, he told me to think about it.
“ I know what I want Mr Andrew” I retorted sharply and I heard him sigh heavily over the phone.
“I'm afraid Mr. Smith won't agree to this. With the fact you just…” I cut him off abruptly. “I don't need him to agree, make him do it! I have evidence of his infidelity “ I stated.
“Are you sure about this?” Mr. Andrew demanded.
“Yes please, Thanks,” I hung up. I wasn't ready for an argument...
I should send him. I thought, searching for it in my gallery but I couldn't find it
There must have been a mix-up! I saved the video!. I started to panic but Smith's angry voice pierced through my ears.
I had just taken a few steps out of the room.
“Please talk some sense into her! If she thinks she can tarnish my image; I won’t hesitate to ruin your family! Not only that, I will destroy her!” Smith’s voice made my skin crawl. It was evident he was talking to my mother.
He hung up and stormed out of the house. Fear crept into my head and my hand trembled as I tried to reach Massimo again.
