it was a frosty night , them winter winds aggressively kissed our vulnerable skin , me and Aaron laid deep in the cart seeking warmth while elthamir kept the horses steady,
the weather had gotten so bad that I feared for the horses and elthamir, he hasy Insisted we travel the night for he claimed we where behind schedule, it wasn't winter yet but the weather dealth coldly with us . I looked at the endurance elthamir had , I had thought of him as the poshed type, but the night sight made me think it was possible to be poshed and strong to the bone. we shivered for hours until I got up refusing to be bent by the cold,I got u and decided to help "let me ride, you go back and rest, least protect yourself from cold ", i offered but but he was as cold as the weather that befell us, " you dont know the way , and you can barely see the path In this wind" , and I asked "can you see in this wind he seemed to give me a look I could not understand through the darkness " you can't even ride the horses on a normal note, and In this wind , everything am doing is not an act of a ruthless leader, am doing them because it has to be done, "if Aaron offered I would have given him, he's probably a good Rider". "I have been watching you ever since you started This journey, I think I can do it now". "fine suit your self" he said handing me the reigns, for a moment it was steady but started shaking up a bit, but the ride was steady but elthamir refused to go and rest, he claimed to be supervising. " Elthamirif you go and sleep you can take over but if you sit here both going to be tired, so go and rest". I said "fine, I guess you're right, an Aaron's not an option either, how is he sleeping in this cold". he said going into the cat to get some rest - suddenly the moon disappeared and the night got darker, and to add to the matter, the wind got stronger.
And there I was, a seventeen-year-old riding a horse for the first time, in the dark of a storm, carrying the prince of elves and the leader of a clan. It wasn't longer than an hour when I caught the glimpse of a moving creature from the side of my eye. I didn't know what to do, I just hoped it was my imagination, but deep down it wasn't, the creature was moving fast and approaching the cart. I slapped the reins of the horse and they started running in the bump of the rocky woods floor. Elthamir and Aaron woke up. "What's the matter?" Elthamir roared from inside the cart. "I don't know I...I...I..." I stammered.
"It's a thing and it's coming close," I stammered. Elthamir and Aaron came to the front and witnessed a ten feet tall creature with horns the size of a huge tree branch, teeth so big we could see them in the darkness.
elthamir tapped his chest and a circle opened up and the light beam shined on it, it had skin that looked like a cobblestone, with growing moss. "It's a... it's a Morthulk."
Elthamir said, "Oh, you think," "Keep her steady." Aaron said, getting onto the carriage, he pulled his arrow on the bow and aimed, he stayed silent and closed his eyes. "Are you going to shoot or wait for us to get devoured?" Elthamir asked. "Just shut up," he said and let go of the arrow, it went straight to the forehead and shattered. "What were you expecting? It looks like cobblestone because his skin is made of cobblestone," Elthamir yelled. "I went for the eye, you put my aim off," Aaron said, pulling an arrow. "Would you please shut up," Aaron yelled, "or do you want to die?" Aaron took a breath and drew his bow again and as slick as a sharp sword he let go and it went straight to the eye.
Unfortunately, it stumbled, screeching and screaming, and crashed into the carriage, it shattered and sent us tumbling. It seemed to freak out as it tried to put the arrow out but he just snapped the arrow which made it worse. The horses fled away from the crash, slowly we got up. The Morthulk, full of rage, charged at us but Elthamir pulled out the sword from his bracelet and led the defense but he was knocked down by the horns. Aaron quickly swirled around his back and used his bow to hook his neck but it only infuriated him the more and he threw him off his back, and he was about to step on him when Elthamir used his gold shield from his bracelet and hit him on the head but proved worthless as he was knocked back down by the horns. Aaron quickly rolled away from under the Morthulk. "There is no way we are penetrating this thin skin, it's literally made of stone," Elthamir said as he cornered the Morthulk trying to confuse it. "Pick up as much as you can," Elthamir yelled at me. I quickly scurried for the bags that fell off the carriage. I ran to a bag that was a distance from the Morthulk. "Ah, it's gold," I swung it over my shoulders and went for others. I carried at least six bags and tied it into a knot and hung it out on my neck. "I'm good," I yelled back. Aaron had tried to jump on it but got knocked down. Elthamir used the chance to pick up a rope from the rummage, tied it to a hole and slid under the Morthulk hooking his neck and bringing it down. "Run," Elthamir yelled and we all ran into the woods in one direction. He got up and chased us into the wood and we ran across some rocky plains. He was getting closer and fast. Aaron jumped into a tree, swung on some branches going deeper. When he was far enough from us, he shot several arrows trying to draw its attention but it didn't turn its gaze until it got too close. Aaron turned around to the south. "It's swirled and this thing's skin's not this thin," he yelled, trying to drag it. "It's trying to draw his attention," he yelled. "Cancel the," he yelled. "It's slowing," Elthamir yelled. "Drop the bags," Elthamir yelled. "Drop all the gold you are wearing," I said. "But it's going to be useful in the future," he yelled. "Exactly, you get the point," I said.
The Morthulk was only meters away from us, and still closing in fast. Aaron stopped and signaled us to hurry. "We're trying," I yelled. Within seconds, Aaron led us into a c***k in the ground that led to an underground cave, he got in, Elthamir followed. When I got there seconds after Elthamir did, I passed the bags to Elthamir and tried to get him, but some rocks above fell on the top and it increased the pressure, I was stuck. Elthamir and Aaron pulled my feet but I was barely moving. I looked up and the Morthulk was closing in. Seconds to devouring me, I tried lifting the rocks above, and in a pop I fell into the cave. When I got to the entrance, it stumbled and stumped but the rocks didn't break, it roared at the entrance and stopped to sit. "Okay, what are you waiting for? Turn on the light thingy on your chest," Aaron told Elthamir. Elthamir clearly pissed from his words, but still turned it on. It was a bat cave and at the sight of light, they all flew outside. " it looks like were going to have to camp here for the night," Elthamir said when the light on his chest turned off. "What's the matter with you? Turn it on," Aaron said. "I can't, it uses energy for my body to illuminate, and trust me, I am tired," Elthamir replied. While they were bickering, I checked on the Morthulk. "It's asleep," I whispered. "Fine, then let's use this chance to get out of here," Elthamir suggested. "You said it yourself, lad, you're tired, give it a break," Aaron said. "Next time you call me lad, you will be the last time you breathe," " I'm not a lad, I may look young, and I am young, but to humans, I am over fifty years old," Elthamir snapped at Aaron. "I know you've said this before, I know you elves age differently, but truly, you said it yourself, you are lad," Aaron said with a smirk. "Your luckily these things are sleep, if not, your blood would've been splattered on the cave floor," Elthamir threatened. "Suit yourself, good night, actually, I wish you have nightmares," he said, lying down to sleep. Elthamir did the same on the other end of the cave.
The moon came out of hiding and the wind stopped. "Finally," I thought. I peeked at the Morthulk, wondering if the weather affected him, when I noticed the broken shaft of Aaron's arrow was out of his eye, somehow he must have pulled it out. I stretched my hand out of the cave, I didn't know what I was doing, but somehow I knew it was right. I touched him on the open wound of his eye and withdrew my hands. I checked and there was blood on my hands. I cleaned it off and went to bed on the cave's floor. Before dozens of
By morning Aaron woke me up. it was barely dawn, Elthamir had moved the bag out of the cave using a sticky he found on the floor. He slowly slipped out of the cave's mouth, Aaron followed, then me. We tiptoed till we were a reasonable distance from the Morthulk. "What now?" Aaron asked Elthamir. "I don't know, why are you asking me?" Elthamir replied. "Sorry, I thought you were supposed to be the one who is always thinking," Aaron said. "Could you two not argue?" I said, and surprisingly, there was silenced. "We have to find the horses," Aaron suggested. "Then we need to head for a river," Elthamir suggested. "We are looking for horses, not fishes," Aaron said, discouraging Elthamir idea . "In case you do not know, the river is inhabited by more than fishes, but both land animals are drawn to it because every living thing needs water," Elthamir explained. "Including dangerous creatures," I said silently. "Yes, and if I can recall, the map did say the only river for miles was beyond the Larvamites territory,
There was also a longer path around it, I'm guessing the horses follow that path," Elthamir said. "How are you so sure? How are you so sure they did?" Aaron asked. "Natural instinct, all animals, elf's and humans have it, I'm guessing you were skipped," Elthamir replied.
"I have instinct, but I guess you are right, so that means we are going around the lava territory," Aaron said. "No, the horses are way faster than us, so wheregoing to have to follow the short path and we have to hurry if we are going to meet up with the keeper of secrets," Elthamir replied. "How do you expect to go through the Lavamites Territory and actually survive? And whats the rush? with the Keeper of Secrets thing any way? We almost died yesterday because we didn't stop to rest," Aaron said. "Correction, because we didn't stop to rest, you were asleep most of the time, and we were alive today because we didn't stop. That was an APAx predator looking for prey, if you were asleep, you would've been killed without knowing it until you felt and heard your own bones cracking," Elthamir said.
"Fine, how do you expect us to go to the Lava Territory and survive?" Aaron asked. "Because we have him," Elthamir said, hands pointing at me. "The bag carrier? How is he going to help?" Aaron said. "He is the beast, the controller of the earth forces, especially made by God," Elthamir said. "Then what was he doing when they attacked by the morthhulk? You're supposed to be the smart one, I'm not supposed to be thinking, but I am thinking. You know why? Because this is suicide," Aaron said. "I'm well aware of the terms, Aaron, and I know what I'm doing," Elthamir replied.
At this point, I didn't know what to do. TheyKept on with their bickering and worst, of all , I had no idea. Being a beast? Do I look like a beast? At this point, I didn't want to tell elthamir, I was just a regular guy. I started wishing I was what he thought, but I could swear it all just sounded like nonsense.
"Which direction is the Lava Territory?" I asked. "Follow me, I think I can remember the path, but first we have to find it. We're looking for a huge rock with red marks on it," Elthamir said. "Red marking?" I asked. "A bear murdered his prey on it," he replied.
"Ok, I'm going up," Aaron said, climbing up a tree. "I don't see anything, which direction is it?" he asked. "East," Elthamir said. "Ok," Aaron replied, using his hand to feel the direction of the wind. "I think I see it, it's a couple meters from here, not too far," he said, jumping down. "Lead the way," Elthamir said.
We got to the path and continued the journey. We walked for miles. "Kid, I don't suppose there's water in one of those bags now?" Aaron asked. "No, just gold, wheat, and bread," I replied. "Gold?" Aaron exclaimed. "What for? You didn't think the Keeper of Secrets was just going to tell us and blow up his last pair of eyes for nothing, now do you?" Elthamir asked. "That must be incredibly heavy, lad, let me relieve you of that burden," Aaron said, passing the gold, with a twinkle in his eye. "Of course not," Elthamir answered. "For once, could you focus on your life?" Aaron said dejectedly. "No worries, I don't want your gold, you can keep it as long as you want, I never wanted it anyway," Aaron said.
"elthamir how are we going to get through the larvamite terri..... Aaron asked when boom five rocks fell out of the sky and circled us ,b
Does rocks unfolded Into five beast , "LARVAMITES"elthamir said. they were skinny but had lava flowing through them, they where as tall as half giant, the impact from the floor had started, from a tiny spark to a burning blaze , we stood there in the middle of it
They screeched , among themselves like people , deliberating on an issue "I drew closer to elthamir my heart pounding I stared at him hoping he'll know what to do, but he's face read despair, The fire got worst and I could feel the heat Even though, we weren't too close to the flames when suddenly
