Chapter 10

2009 Words
I was supposed to meet the girl's at the pool today, tying the strap of my bra together and placing the finishing touches on myself. Sunscreen was tucked into my small bag on the counter as well as lotion. I had put on some sunscreen though, not needing the unwelcomed attention of roaming eyes. It was bad enough that I wouldn't be able to keep them off my exposed flesh. Well, I guess that's what towels were for. Even for a while. "So have you decided on what it's going to be?" Kellan asks, standing behind me and twirling a lock of hair between his digits. It is his way of reminding me what I'll be missing or rather what I have missed. But it was already impossible to forget. "No," I tell him monotonously, continuing to decide what else to take for our beach day. "I think you're stalling," He pauses awhile and I think he's over the matter when his hand takes hold of my shoulder, turning me to meet his narrowed eyes. "Unless it's something one of us won't be happy about." I cackle joyfully, nodding to his dismay. "Oh yes, but then if one of us receives their heart's desires shouldn't it be enough for both of us?" "Only if it's of mutual benefit." "Yes Kellan, it's mutual benefit," I tell him patting him on a sturdy shoulder. "You're playing with fire Viven and you'll regret it," "Are you threatening me?" I enquire throwing my previous playful demeanor away. "I'll play this game with you. I'll enjoy the chase because you're a beautiful prize. Let's just hope I never catch you." I swallow at the honesty of his words, my breasts now becoming tender at the reminder of his calloused hands on them. "What...what are you planning on doing?" Kellan shrugs his broad shoulders, heading towards the door. "Guess we'll just have to wait and figure it out together." I hurried to the poolside, flustered that I'm allowing Kellan to get under my skin with his simple threats. We spent two weeks in the same apartment together just doors away and nothing happened. Nothing happened. It shouldn't be this hard to stay away from him. He had no rules, all charisma, and no boundaries. I shouldn't be bothered that I'm working for my mental health. We promised not to be the same girl that left Watson. But I'm not. That girl would not have allowed Kellan to ravish me in his brutish ways, nor would have encouraged any s****l banter with him. I would have fled and demanded he finds another room, or one myself. But this stupid chase that he keeps hinting at is quite bothersome. The worst parts of me are falling to light all because of that rakehell of a man. *** There's a whistle when I remove my towel, my face heating from the hooting of the barefaced men around us. Bre beams over her margarita, Kasey lying on her stomach beaming up at me and I ignore their attention wading over to my girls. "Ooh, Vi! " Bre cries giggling. "Hadn't I been blessed with boobs of my own, I'd be so jealous." "But yours are larger than mine, Bre." "Yes," She nods in affirmation before reaching over to grope me in the water. "But yours are so squishy." I scream mortified, both of us tumbling into the depths as I scurry to get without her grip. When we resurface, we splash and scream together like little girls having a cat fight, before laughing, becoming cognizant that we were now the center of attention. "And now you're both on display." Kasey informs us, using her drink to point at our chests. I duck in horror, tucking back a n****e that must have spilled out during our roughhousing while Bre tightens her straps. Kasey laughs humorously, falling on her back. Her eyes open when she calms, licking her lips. "God Kellan is gorgeous." She gushes. "Thank you," Bre fawns. "Though still not as precious as my Jon." "Jon is handsome, but Kellan is hot, and those tats." Kasey practically bounces up and down on her floater. "Mmm, delicious. " There's a scorching heat that envelops me, and I raise my eyes to find the full flame of Kellan's glare on me. He's dressed in his sleeveless white tee and khaki shorts with matching slippers, a beer in his hand swirling through his digits; while his brother laughs animated beside him. There's no humor in his gaze however and I shiver beneath his cold stare. What was his problem? Women on either side of the pool oogle him, a petite blonde touching him on his upper arm in attempt to regain his attention. Kellan moves his hand away without tossing her a second glance, his gaze steeled against mine as he places his drink to his lips. The distraught woman gives up, mumbling to her friends maybe about the cold shoulder he's given her. I drop my gaze deciding to ignore him. He wasn't mine. He could speak with whoever he wanted to. As long as he didn't take them back to our room. Our afternoon progresses slowly, the sun playing seek a boo more times than not, while my skin wrinkles beneath the water. My stomach growls but I keep chugging my juice unwilling to have to go to the gazebos for food. "Are you sure you don't want the men to get you something?" Bre asks for the millionth time again. "Yes, Bre. And why aren't they anywhere near the water? " She shrugs." They're playing lifeguards today. " A man wades over to us, Brean immediately sizing him up, while Kasey tosses her glasses on leaving us to deal with the intruder. "Hello ladies." He cat calls to us and I don't need to glance at my best friend to know she's thinking of throwing up right about now. He's tanned with patches of sun burn, espcially against his thighs. Guess he couldn't reach that far. I giggled to myself, Bre rolling her eyes. "So, my friends and I have been watching you and thought-" "Let me stop you right there," Bre shakes her head. "We're not interested." "You didn't even wait until I'm finished." He snorts. "Does it even matter? We're not interested." Bre huffs. "Stupid b!tch," The stranger curses at us. "Not that we thought much of either of you." When the fox cant reach the grape, he claims it's sour. I scoffed affronted at his gall. "That's precisely the reason why we refused your company asshole!" I need to find a different word to scold Kellan, despite his lacking in mannerism, he was never this shitty a conpany. Kasey shifts her glasses a little low on her nose gazing at us. "He's still here?" She muses. "Some people really can't take a hint." "Whores," He hisses, wading back to his grown man-boys who flip us off. "Idiots," Bre mutters and we laugh together, Kasey's laughter hitching into a high sputter as she stares up at someone behind us. I turn rigidly, astonished to find a brooding Kellan, his eyes the shade of the tumultuous seas. Oh no. "Kellan is something wrong? " I asked hesitantly. "Get out! " He tells me barely holding onto his restraint. "What? " I asked in stupified alarm. "Now! " He demands, his blue-green eyes shifting back to me. "Get out or I'm coming in for you Viven." "Ooo Vi, someone's in daddy mode," Kasey gushes. "Yes, better not upset daddy. " Bre joins in. "Shut up! " I chastise both of them while stepping backward from the thundering giant before me. "Viven! " "Kell.... Ahhh! " I scream, not getting enough time to react when water splashes against me, and Kellan lifts me against his shoulder from below me. "Put, put me down. " "I warned you. " He growls wading both of us to the other side of the pool and walking up the stairs, water dripping into the soft carpet at his feet. "Kellan what the hell are you doing? Stop!" I cried horrified of his strange behavior. Bre waves frantically behind me and I spy her husband jumping in and heading her way. "Both of you love birds be nice now! " She screams at us. "Don't hurt her too bad Kellan! " What?! What the hell was she spurting about? "Kellan put me down!" I hollered as he walked with me over his shoulder like some little prize fish caught from his trip. "Put me down this instant!" "Quit making a scene," He hisses at me, pinching me on my ass and I wriggled around wanting to scream and shout at him for the harassment. A man passes, eyes wide and oogling at us, Kellan nodding cordially, while I stiffened, hiding my face in the crook of his neck. I was going to kill him for this. How could he be such a jackass! He lowers me down against the bed, my towel unfurling, leaving my soaked clothes and exposed skin, open for his gaze to roam. "Go and change," He instructs. "Excuse me!" "You heard me Viven," His jaw set in a tight clench. "Go and change." "Into what?" "I don't know," His hand slips through his hair in agitation. "Anything that's less revealing. A long shorts, preferably an accompanying blouse with wrist length sleeve." I gawked at him. Was he serious? We were at the pool and I was not Muslim. "No." I fold my hands across my chest glaring at him in equal measure. I was my own person. He would not bully me into changing my attire. "Viven!" "We're at the pool Kellan. A pool. It's a bikini. That's what people wear to these things." "Well, it's showing more of you than I'm willing to tolerate." He shot back. The nerve of him. Not because we slept together meant he could not have a say in my wardrobe. This was Ludacris. "I'm not changing and that's final." "You're being stubborn." He tells me and I roll my eyes heading back towards the door. "If you go back out there like that Viven, I swear someone's gonna get hurt if I hear one more sexist comment about your body." I came to a screeching halt at his words, twisting around in horror. "What?" "Yeah, you don't hear how the men have been talking about you and making plans. Some even think you're easy." My skin crawled at his words. I rushed back to our window overlooking the pool and watched as the patrons enjoyed themselves. Brean and Kasey were still lounging around, Jon close by. I could probably file harassment with the hotel, but how would I know who it was? I glanced back at Kellan for a moment. He probably won't even tell me who either. I wasn't ashamed of my body, but just the thought of men planning things for me sounds well past creepy stalker mode. "Well, are you going to change?" "Yeah, but I haven't gotten any of the ridiculous clothing you suggested." I huffed. "That's okay, you can borrow my boxers." He whispers at the shell of my ear. I twist finding myself entrapped between Kellan and the window, his gaze predatorial as he took me in. "What, what are you doing?" I managed to stammer. He swallows stubbornly, fingers entangling with mine as he places them against the window above my head. "The game is over Viven. " "What? No, it's not." "Yes, it is sweetheart. You're mine." "Excuse me? I'm not some little trophy possession that you can claim." "Of course not." He clarifies." I have no intention of erasing your individuality or claiming that you have to do whatever I say. Well, " His head points towards our shared bed. "There though, I expect your full cooperation. " "And if I don't? " "Oh love, that's just what I'm counting on." He whispers. "There are some delicious punishments that I want to try out."
