When he reached me, he stopped. We stared at each other, wordless for a moment. He was definitely the most beautiful man I’d ever seen. He towered over me. His muscled body almost begged to be touched and his eyes, his intense blue eyes roamed my body almost devouring me. I couldn’t even begin to imagine the things… I had to snap out of it!
“Can I help you?” I folded my arms nervously. And glanced toward where the car should have been already. Why is it taking so long?
His head tilted, almost like he couldn’t believe my idiotic question. But he shook his head and the intensity from his eyes gave out.
“You left in quite a hurry,” he pointed out and the side of his mouth lifted lazily as he slid a hand into his pocket.
“I’m tired,” I shrugged. Hoping that my dry response would deter him from furthering this conversation. I need him to go away before I lose all my self-restraint.
“I bet, being a mastermind and rogue abolisher sure seem like hard work,” His shoulders had relaxed and his eyes held a glint of mischief that worried me more than his smouldering gaze.
And though my first instinct would’ve been to maybe laugh at the terrible joke, I forced my face to remain expressionless.
“Thank you, for your support. You don’t have to send more of your wolves in the other packs’ stead, by the way.”
“I’m happy to though, I’ve got the wolves.”
I knew he did. He now commanded the largest pack in the land. He could probably spare double what any other pack could.
“Well, thank you anyway,” and just as I finished my sentence my car pulled up behind me.
He stepped towards me the space between us closing momentarily. I had to hold my breath to keep from inhaling his intoxication scent. Knowing I couldn’t trust myself as my wolf kept howling in my mind, begging me to touch him, to let him nuzzle into my neck. The heat from his body alone made me freeze and for a moment I knew that if he tried to touch me, I would let him.
To my surprise, he walked past me to the car. He leaned down and grabbed the door handle opening the door for me. Not another word was said as I climbed into the back, his eyes looking intensely into mine. I could feel the heat spreading across my cheeks but I refused to look away, I refused to allow him any dominance over me.
His mouth quirked slightly as he shut the car door.

“What happened?” Maia didn’t even bother to greet me as she came into the cabin. I lounged on the sofa, a book in my lap. Willow had mind-linked me asking me if I wanted anything, she and Logan were going to drive to the neared town to grab food. I’d told her no and regretted it right away. Hence the plate of half-eaten food on the centre table.
“Oh good, if you didn’t notice then there’s no way anyone else did,” I put my plate on the table infant of me, I hadn’t even finished half, but I felt as if though I might throw up. I sat back and brought my knees up to my chest.
“Okay, now you’re scaring me,” She walked over to the sofa and sat beside me.
“It’s Jayden.”
Her face scrunched in confusion for a second before realisation dawn on her.
“Wait, is he-?”
I nodded slowly.
“Holy s**t,” she leaned back, her eyes staring straight into nothing.
“I know,”
“What are you going to do?”
“There’s nothing I can do, if I take him as my mate he will claim me as his Luna which means I’d be stripped of my Alpha title, but if I reject him he might pull out of the plan I proposed out of spite,” I told her the options that had been playing over and over in my head since I got into the car.
“Do you really think he’d do that?”
I didn’t, not really. Was I making it up as an excuse to not reject him?
I shrugged, “Who knows,”

The next morning the Alphas gathered in the conference room. I pretended to find something extremely interesting inside my cup of coffee. Anything to stop me from looking up into the clear blue eyes I already knew were glued to me from across the table.
“Alpha Cali, would you like to tell us again what your plan is?” Neko, the alpha of the Blue Moon pack, gestured to me. He seemed to appoint himself the moderator of this meeting and no one objected.
I rose from my seat and looked at the Alphas generally, careful not to meet Jayden’s eyes for more than a second. Knowing I could not get through this meeting if my wolf started going crazy within me again.
“Fellow Alphas, I know the rogue problem in our land is worsening. I say we do something about it before any of us suffer and more losses. We are stronger united, if we were to bring our forces together we could potentially put an end to them,” I squared my shoulders further, trying to look as assertive and powerful as possible,
“I ask for each of our packs to put forth a minimum of 8 wolves to come together as a small legion that will train to track and take down the rogue clans in the land.
“The reason I say a minimum of 8 is because that is what I believe we’ll need to achieve this common goal, however, those inclined and in the capacity to offer more wolves for this cause are welcome. This will increase our chances to succeed.”
I lean forward resting my hands on the table, “Any questions?”
“And where do you propose we train this small legion?” Orson, the alpha from my neighbouring pack crossed his arms. I paused for a second, that is something I should’ve thought about in advance.
“I can take care of that.” I didn’t have to look to know who that deep voice belonged to.
I made the mistake of looking over to him and found him already looking at me. I fought the urge to squirm under his gaze. As if he could feel this, he stood. His muscles rippled under his casual dress shirt and I hated myself as I instinctively sank to my chair. But it was that, or let everyone see the way he made my hands shake, just by looking at me.
His eyes finally left mine to address Orson, “I have the land, and the facilities to house this legion. I will also offer trainers that can shape this legion into what we need them to be,”
My wolf howled in approval and I tried to drown her out. This is not good. I had the intentions of being very involved with this legion, but if they were housed in the Silver Dawn territory, that meant having to stay very close to Jayden throughout the process. I could see the mental image of my wolf wiggling her tail in a love-sick manner. I almost shook my head at it.
“And how many wolves will you be contributing to this cause Alpha Jayden?” Orson questioned.
“I plan to put forth 30 of my best wolves and 10 of my training wolves, I think it’ll be good for them,” Jayden sat back down and smiled casually.
I had to bite down on my lip to keep myself from gapping. Last night, I had done some digging and found his territory had not suffered any attacks in over two years. So he was not doing this for his pack, He’s doing it for us! my wolf howled.
For what felt like the first time, I looked at him. I really looked at him. I was not surprised to find him already looking at me, his eyes void of the smugness he’s shown Orson a minute before. His eyes were sincere and kind and I couldn’t bear it.
“So it’s settled?” I asked the Alphas.
The Alpha from the Crescent moon pack addressed me, “And I trust you will oversee this legion personally?”
I looked back at Jayden, knowing there was no way this would end well for me. He raised his eyebrows, prompting my answer.
“I will.”
