Chapter 2

It was a no-work day for me. As an intern, I only worked four times a week. "Felix...why are you here?" I gasped as he urged me to open the door widely for him to enter. When he came in, I banged the door with flushed cheeks and stood before him. "Why are you here?" I asked again. "Adina, I don't have enough time to play couples' games." He smirked and I dropped my raised spread hands that looked like I was trying to pull someone into a hug. I was only trying to stop him from coming further into my apartment. I hit him playfully on his chest and frowned, "Hey dude, I don't have much time to play cat and dog with you too. Why are you here?" "The same reason you are home," he replied shortly and walked in to sit on one of the two couches. "Hey...I'm an intern, you are a worker." "Okay, fine. I just wanted to go off work today. Told them I'm sick, that's just all." With what he said I sat beside him and touched his neck, it was oddly cold, well it rained earlier. "Oh my God. You are so hot. Did you take any drug?" I asked, feigning empathy. He looked at me, "Wait, what? I mean I just lied to them. I'm not sick." "You are truly sick." I swore as I attempted to check his temperature again before he held my hands, "What?" "Let's go on a date." "What...what did you just say?" I blinked at him. This seriously wasn't happening. What did he mean by date? " You know so well that colleagues shouldn't hang out." "I thought you would love to go but it seems you are fine sitting here alone, " he said. He stood up and walked to the door, "Maybe I should just go alone." "No no. Felix. Just come back. I was just kidding." I rolled my eyes, "Who cares about some useless rules. Arrgh!" He smiled and loosened his hold on the door's handle, "Go dress up. I would wait here." "Good." I nodded and ran into my room. So it meant Felix and I were going to hang out! "This must be a dream!" I sang as I ransacked my wardrobe for a cloth I hadn't worn in months. Would it still be my size? I have grown too slim recently. Things seemed good. Who knew dreams would fall into place just like this? I had always wished to go out with someone, to at least lose my conscience for a while. I needed to cool myself and just fly into another continent. My sister's death was more than heartbreaking. That day was a day that would keep on hunting me forever. And Felix was a good idea. I wore my pink maxi dress and my almost worn-out heels. I brushed on some makeup and zoomed out of my room. "You look stunning." He beamed me a smile and I just nodded. *** "So what do you think about him? The Jethro Miller." I asked Felix after we cleared our dishes. "He isn't bad. Maybe he is worth the position he is in right now, " he said. "But I don't think so. He looks..." His image flashed through me and I blinked not knowing what to say anymore. "He looks what?" "Nothing. I just don't like him. He has a dangerous aura." I changed the topic slightly, though it was the truth I didn't want to say any word about what happened yesterday. He poured me the pineapple juice and I sipped a bit from it. "So...you told me your twin brother died." "Huh, I did?" He asked. " It's okay if you don't want to talk about it. I just felt like I knew how you are feeling. My sister died last two months too." I sighed when I knew I had already told him what I didn't want to tell anyone. I wanted to revenge and I didn't want people's empathy and opinion but sometimes, it was hard not telling people what you are going through. "You didn't tell me you had one. Sorry about that." "I didn't even mean to digress, back to the new PA." He sat up and called me, "Adina..." "What?" "Is there something more about the PA you aren't telling? e? Wait..." He paused for a while and furrowed his eyebrows, "Did he hurt you?!" "Ah...no. We, ll, May he overreacted." I confessed. "What did he do?" His voice heightened and I shook at his mood swings. "What exactly did he do? I knew he was going to be a simp the first day I set my eyes on him." "He didn't do anything,g., I said. "He just told me some stuff about some crazy characters he wanted me to build and he was threatening...like he acted like if I didn't do well I might lose my job." "Oh..." I licked my lips and swap away from the sweat that was already building on my nose, "When did you see him?" It was his time to lie, I guessed. "At the mall. He was pulling up some fifightsith with some gangs that looked like pot dealers. So I thought he might be one of them. The same reason I was afraid he already hurt you." "But ... but he didn't look like a pot dealer." "Trust me, he is worse."
