Chapter NineteenIt was well after midnight by the time Matt got into bed, emotionally and physically spent. Even when he fell into bed, he couldn't sleep. He'd spent an hour or so, tossing and turning, but sleep continued to elude him. Paula's words nagged at him, making him think hard on what was best for Courtney. What was best for all of his children?
With a heavy heart, Matt pulled on some jeans and a t-shirt and headed back downstairs, formulating plans, making decisions. A quick glance at his watch confirmed it was a little after two in the morning, and leaving a note in case Gina or Paula woke up, he slipped out of the front door and got into his truck, quietly reversing out of the driveway.
