The Hall Awakens
The whisper stayed with Aria.
Come home.
Aria’s knees almost gave way. Damien caught her with one arm around her waist. His grip was firm but gentle.
He said Aria. She blinked fast.
I heard it again, she said.
“What?” Damien asked.
“A voice,”Aria replied. Her breathing was uneven.
“It said…”
She swallowed.
“Come home,” Aria said.
No one said a word.
Then Vance and Garrick looked at each other in a way. Dr. Evelyn looked more fascinated than scared.
“The Hall has never called to anyone before," she said quietly.
Garrick corrected her.
“No”,
“It has,” Garrick added.
Everyone turned to him.
“But not in over four hundred years,” Garrick said.
The Hall of Echoes
Half the fortress had gathered outside. Soldiers were holding the crowds back behind barricades
