I watch Alex walk away. Something I said upset him. Deciding not to let this go unresolved, I follow him. “What did I say to upset you, Alex?”

“Nothing, it’s been a long day. Goodnight.”

“I don’t want to be like her. I don’t want just to use your generosity. It’s bad enough I can’t take care of myself or protect my daughter, but now I feel like I’m using you.”

Alex finally turns around, “What do you want me to say, Kamryn? That sure you can pay me to stay here, and I will help you as I promised? I’m still in love with you, and it bothers me to think you need to pay me. I have never wanted anything as much as I want you. Yes, I understand you don’t want to be like Lana, but you were never like her. You never lied to me. Kamryn, you told me you were running from your ex and that for a time, you had trouble getting your divorce finalized, so I knew what I was getting into by perusing you. Lana lied to me from the beginning. She exploited my generosity by lying. Have you lied to me, Kamryn?” I shake my head. “Then, take what I am offering to you.” 

“At least let me cook for you. I need to feel I am contributing somehow.”

“Fine, but only because you cook better than me.” Alex has a smile on his face.

“Thank you.” I smile back. Before Alex walks away, I go up to him and kiss him. Alex quickly puts his hand behind my head, deepening the kiss. When we pull apart, both of us are out of breath.

Alex looks at me; I can see the hunger and lust in his eyes. He quickly kisses me again; his tongue is in my mouth. I push myself closer to him; Alex’s arms wrap around me. Picking me up, he starts carrying me to his room. Once we are inside his room, he pulls away from me and places me on the bed.

I quickly start to remove my clothes while he removes his. The second we are both naked, I move up the bed, Alex quickly gets on top of me. His lips soon go back to mine. I will tie you up, and we will put everything we got into good use.”  Alex’s lips are back on mine. He starts moving down my neck. I move my head to the side to give him better access.

My hands explore his body; my fingers trace his shoulders, back, and chest. “Alex, wait.”

He pulls back, looking confused, “Is something wrong?”

I pull away from him. Alex is on his knees, looking confused. Putting a hand to his chest, I push him back. He lays down, and I quickly get on top of him. I start kissing down his body. Alex turns towards me. Laying on his side, he puts his arm around my waist. “I want you to know your value. I don’t want to lose you. I know how it looked, and if someone did that to you, I wouldn’t be able to handle it. When I realized what was happening, I did push her away. It took me far too long to understand what was happening, but I promise you, there will never be a next time.”

Alex leans in and kisses me. His hands move down my body. He gets on top of me. As Alex kisses down my neck, someone knocks on the door.  At first, we try to ignore it, but the person keeps knocking. “Alex, maybe you should see who it is.” Alex sighs. He gets off me and grabs a pair of pants and a shirt.

I hear Alex answer the door.
