Chapter One

1157 Words
Cassia's POV It was positive! The pregnancy test sat face down on the bathroom counter. I had been staring at it for three minutes with not a single clue about what to do. My phone buzzed, I stared at the screen *Office. Now. * I left the test where it was and quickly hurried out, that was how much effect he had on me. Alec didn't look up when I entered. His fingers moved across the keyboard, clicking fast with a blank expression on his face. "Lock the door," he spoke in a deep tone, but his gaze was still fixed on the keyboard. I took a few steps inside and shut the door. Only then did he lift those silver eyes, the cold melted instantly. "You're late." "I had things to handle." I bit my lower lip, staring into his eyes, the lust that filled it. "More important than me?" He pushed back from the desk, patting his lap. I crossed to him because my body always did, even when my mind was screaming to run. The moment I was close enough, he pulled me down. His hands found my waist, my hair, tilting my face toward his. "You smell different." His nose traced my neck. "New perfume?" "The one you bought me. You said I had to wear it." "And you listen so well." His teeth grazed my pulse point, his voice now playful. "Sometimes." I knew that I should inform him about the pregnancy, but his mouth was on mine and coherent thought became difficult. He kissed like he was claiming territory, devouring me with lustful moans that followed. When he pulled back, his expression had shifted to something darker and hungrier. "I've been thinking about you all morning. Couldn't focus on anything else." "Alec, someone could….." "Bulletproof walls, soundproof, I made sure of it." His hand slid beneath my shirt, slowly trailing around my breasts. "No one can hear you here." My breath hitched as his fingers gave my n*****s a slight pinch. This was dangerous, we were always dangerous. the future Alpha and a packmate he refused to claim publicly. Three months until his mating ceremony, where tradition demanded he choose his Luna in front of the entire pack. Three months he kept promising would end with him choosing me. "Why are we still hiding?" The question escaped before I could stop it. His hand stilled. "You know why." "Do I?" "My parents and the pack elders. They expect a certain type of Luna." He cupped my face, forcing me to meet his eyes. "After I'm officially Alpha, none of that matters. I'll have the power to choose whoever I want." "And you want me." "The moon goddess chose you for me. That's not something I take lightly." He kissed me again, softer this time. "Trust me, Cassia. Just a little longer." I wanted to, I wanted to believe that secret meetings in locked offices would turn into public claims. That the way he touched me in private would translate to how he treated me when others were watching. But the pregnancy test was still sitting on my bathroom counter, and I was still trying to figure out how to break the news to him. His hands began to move, unbuttoning my shirt, unclasping my bra. When his mouth found my breast, I gasped, it was a mixture of pain and pleasure. "Sensitive," he murmured against my skin. "They've been sore." I mumbled. "Your period is coming?" "Maybe." I gritted my teeth, avoiding his gaze. He pulled me closer, his touch becoming more insistent. My body responded the way it always did. My wolf rising to meet him. This was the part where I stopped thinking. Where I let him take control and pretended that was the same as being chosen. His fingers slipped beneath my skirt, finding me already wet. "Always so ready for me," he growled, his wolf flickered in his eyes. "Tell me what you want." The answer stuck in my throat. *I want you to claim me. I want you to tell everyone. I want to stop hiding.* But I knew I couldn't say them out. "You," I breathed instead. "I want you." He lifted me onto the desk, pushing my skirt up, spreading my legs. When he entered me, I bit down on my lip to keep from moaning out. He held his c**k and shoved it inside of me, His hands gripped my thighs hard enough to bruise. My fingers dug into his shoulders, holding on as he pushed me toward the edge. "Say my name," he demanded in a hush tone. "Alec….." I moaned "Louder." "Alec." It came out as a whimpering sound. And then he began to thrust back and forth, I could see the beast in him. The more he thrust, the more my body was aching for him. The pleasure was nothing like I had ever felt. He finished with a groan, collapsing against me. For a moment, we stayed like that, tangled together, breathing hard. He pressed his forehead to mine. "I love you," he whispered. I closed my eyes. "I know." Dr. Morrison had known me since I was a child. He had set my broken arm when I was seven, treated my first shift fever at thirteen. Now he sat across from me with a file in his hands and careful sympathy in his eyes. "The nausea, the fatigue, the breast tenderness—it all makes sense now." He slid the paper across the desk. "You're six weeks pregnant, Cassia." Six weeks. The number echoed in my head, doing math I didn't want to do. Six weeks ago, Alec had told me the ceremony was postponed another month. Six weeks ago, he'd promised it didn't change anything. Six weeks ago, I'd believed him, but I didn't want to believe the test result when I saw it earlier, but now that the doctor was saying it, it was definitely true. "Does this stay confidential?" I asked in a calm tone, holding my breath together. Dr. Morrison nodded slowly. He was old enough to remember pack politics, smart enough not to ask questions he didn't want answers to. "You have options," he said carefully. "But you'll need to decide soon." Options, the word felt obscene. This was Alec's child. The future Alpha's heir. The moon goddess had bound us together; surely this was meant to be. I couldn't even comprehend why Dr Morrison would think that I needed other options aside from keeping the pregnancy. I stood, my legs surprisingly steady. "Thank you, Dr. Morrison." "Cassia." He caught my arm gently. "Whatever you decide, you have support. You're pack, We take care of our own." I nodded because I didn't trust my voice. As I stepped out of the hospital, I knew that I couldn't keep it any longer away from Alec; I had to inform him as soon as possible.
