CHAPTER 8

Aurora keeps walking silently, then Anna and Kalmin are holding each other’s hands while Raven and Richard, the best man in the wedding, are silently walking too. Silence filled them since they started walking to go in the river.

“The air is so fresh!” Richard said and broke the silence.

“Yeah, I agreed!” Raven commented.

“Is the river still far?” Richard asked and Raven answered quickly.

“A little bit.” Anna, Aurora and Kalmin looked at the two. Exactly the two are staring at each other while having an awkward smile. Suddenly, Raven blushed, that's why she looked away and Richard did the same thing. The three chuckled and shook their heads. All of them continued walking until they saw the river near the middle of the forest.

“Wow! The water of the river is so clear! I can see those beautiful and clean rocks and some fish and shrimp!” Aurora can’t stop herself from commenting on how beautiful the river is.

“Yeah! This place is so breathtaking!” The others agreed with her.

“Come on guys! Let’s swim!” Richard said excitedly and took off his shirt and jumped through the river. Now, Raven blushed again when she saw Richard’s sexy body.

“Raven, it’s so obvious,” Anna said and tapped Raven’s shoulder.

“I agree, Anna, I agree,” Aurora said too.

“Shhh!” The two just chuckled and didn’t take off any of their dresses and just swam. Kalmin followed Anna after he took off his shirt too. Raven can’t move where she stands. She just keeps looking at Richard who's enjoying the water of the river.

“Raven?” Richard called her name.

“H-huh?” Raven felt ashamed because of that. She looked away again and closed her eyes.

“This is bullshit, Raven! I feel embarrassed!” Raven whispered to herself and couldn't look at them because her cheeks still looked red.

“Come on Raven, join us here!” Aurora said to her friend and laughed a little. Raven took a deep breath and decided to swim too. While Raven is walking towards them, Aurora knows that her friend is blushing, that's why she’s hiding her face especially to Richard who’s looking at her right now.

“Ayie!” Aurora and Anna whispered to Raven.

“Shut up!” Raven immediately replied.

“Okay, we will shut up. But you know what, he’s looking at you right now,” Anna says and looks at Kalmin. He’s talking now to Richard.

“R-Really?” Raven asked and stuttered.

“Hmm, now he’s not looking at you anymore,” Aurora responded at her friend. Raven looked at Richard immediately and realised that Aurora lied to her. Richard is looking at Raven while Kalmin is saying something. Raven quickly looked at her two friends.

“You lied to me! s**t! I feel embarrassed! This swimming is so awkward!” Raven says and after that she decided to just swim.

Right now, Anna and Kalmin are talking to each other while Richard is now swimming with Raven. Aurora silently looked around while slowly swimming. She closed her eyes and swam.

While this young woman is enjoying the fresh water, she remembered her bad dream a few days ago. When she’s running away from the strangers and suddenly she falls into the monster river and swallows her. Aurora quickly stops swimming and starts catching her own breath. She feels cold and can’t move her body because of that.

“Are you okay, Aurora?” Raven asked her and followed by the others.

“Y-Yeah, I’m okay…”

“Oh Aurora! I know you’re not! Come on, let’s talk about what’s bothering you!” Anna replied to her.

“Yeah, care to tell us?” Kalmin asked.

“Okay, okay, a few days ago, I kept dreaming about something. Everytime it happens, it’s always a bad dream. Like there’s a stranger who’s chasing me. There’s a stranger who keeps laughing while running towards me and there’s someone who always wants to play hide and seek. Then I saw a black cat with red eyes in my dream. The last time I had a bad dream, it’s almost the same as the previous day but I saw the cat again and a blurry vision of a mansion, I guess? Then while swimming slowly, I remembered my bad dream about some strangers who were chasing me , they were wearing thick and long black cloaks. All of them are laughing and it feels so creepy! I just ran and ran to not be chased by them but I didn’t see a river because it’s already dark in the forest where we are in my dream. The monster waves of the river swallowed me in my dream. That’s why I almost can’t move my body after it flashbacks in my mind.” Aurora told them and silence filled them again.

“Why didn't you tell us? We’re just here and we will listen to you, you know?” Anna broke the silence this time.

“I’m sorry! I know that you all will listen but I feel scared. Every time I’m having a bad dream, my throat feels so dry. I’m always catching my own breath and it feels like it really happens to me or it will happen soon. I don’t know, I don’t know why I keep dreaming about that…” Raven and Anna hugged her after she spoke. They tried to calm her down.

“It’s just a dream, keep that in your mind Aurora. It will never happen, okay?” Richard says and she nodded.

“Richard is right. I think you feel it like that because you’re overthinking about your bad dream. Or something must really scare you with or without any reasons that’s why you feel that way, but you should relax. Maybe you’re stressed,” Kalmin added.

“Thank you guys! Thank you, I feel okay now after saying what’s bothering me,” Aurora responded and smiled at them.

“You’re welcome! Wait, it's almost dark. We should change our clothes and get home. Our parents might be worried about us right now,” Raven said and they all agreed again with her.

Richard and Kalmin go to the small cabin while the three young women go to the other cabin. There are three long fabrics in every cabin. They used it as cover so they could change their clothes immediately.

Meanwhile, Aurora wore her underwear and held her towel. When she’s about to wear her long skirt she feels someone is rubbing its feathers on her feets. She slowly looked at someone then screamed like there’s no tomorrow.

“AHHH! AHH!” Aurora screamed loudly. She quickly runs to go outside of the small cabin while the towel and underwear covering her body. The black cat with a red eye keeps running towards her while meowing.

“Don’t come to me! Go away! s**t!’ Aurora keeps running and doesn't notice she’s going far from her friends. Her friends kept calling her together with Richard and Kalmin. All of them quickly wear their dresses in the small cabin and follow the footprint of Aurora. They all stopped when they couldn't see Aurora’s footprint. Also, they can’t hear Aurora’s scream again.

“f**k! Where’s Aurora now?!” Anna asked worriedly.

“s**t! I saw the black cat following her, that's why Aurora keeps running away! I can’t see any print of the cat’s feets!” Kalmin said worriedly too.

“Let’s find her now! Good thing we brought flashlights!” Richard added.

“Aurora! Aurora!” Anna keeps shouting Aurora’s name and others follow while they are searching for Aurora.

“Aurora! Aurora!”

AURORA'S throat feels dry after she screamed again and again. She sat on the rock weakly while catching her breath again. Almost her whole body is trembling. Aurora looks around and feels scared when she’s already alone. Aurora closed her eyes and remembered her bad dreams that she wanted to forget. Right now, this young woman doesn’t know where to go. She doesn’t know what is the right path or way to go back with her friends.

“You’re a s**t, self! You’re so stupid self! Why did you run away just because of that cat!” Aurora asked herself and couldn't stop her tears from falling. She cries and feels cold when the wind blows around her.

“Meow! Meow!”

Aurora’s eyes widened and slowly looked at her back. The black cat with red eyes is there again. Her heart was beating so fast because of nervousness and suddenly, Aurora fainted.

IT'S already dark when Aurora slowly wakes up. She has blurry eyesight at first until it becomes clear. This woman paled when realisation hit her. She’s not in the place where she fainted! She’s laying down on a dusty couch in a big and old mansion!

“Where the hell I am?!” Aurora asked herself again and she’s so confused. Now, her towel is not already covering her body. She can’t see it! Aurora is just wearing her underwear.

“What the hell?!” Aurora is blaming the black cat in her mind and keeps cursing the cat.

“Meow! Meow!”

“s**t! Come back here you black cat with red eyes! This is all your fault!” Aurora is covering her breast using her hands while chasing the cat. The cat stopped and ran to go inside of the room. As usual, she followed.

Aurora stops immediately when she sees a handsome man laying down on the dusty bed. His skin is so white. There’s only three candles that give light inside the room.

She doesn’t know why her heart starts beating so fast. Also, this young woman can’t stop her feets from walking towards the sleeping handsome. She feels like she wants to kiss his pale lips.

Aurora slowly sat on the dusty bed and touched his face. After caressing his cheeks, she moves closer to him and stops when her lips touch his lips. Aurora kisses the sleeping handsome and little by little, she moves her lips and kisses him deeply. Aurora kisses the handsome man in the dusty bed like she doesn’t care if he or someone caught her or if she’s wearing only her underwear.

This young woman just stops when she feels like he kissed her back while circling his arms on her waist. Slowly again, Aurora moves her face away and her eyes widened when the handsome man is already awake and currently smirking at her.

“Thank you, you saved me…”

“W-What?” The handsome man didn’t reply and kissed her lips. Aurora kissed him back but she pulled him away after realising what she did. She quickly grabbed the dusty fabric in the bed and covered her body and ran away while screaming again.

“AHHH! AHHH!” Aurora didn’t look again at the mansion after she got out. She just screamed loudly while running away.

Aurora stops when she feels like her eyesight is spinning, then it becomes blurry and suddenly she faints again.

WHILE they are searching for Aurora, they hear a loud scream again and they are sure it’s her voice. They followed the screams and suddenly stopped when they saw Aurora laying on the ground. Raven immediately removed the dusty fabric covering Aurora’s body. Then, Anna covered Aurora’s body with her clothes while the two men were looking away.

“You can look at her now. We need to bring her to the hospital!” Raven said worriedly. Richard is about to carry Aurora’s body but Aurora’s eyes slowly open and blink many times before looking at them.

“Aurora! Oh my God! We’re so worried about you!” Raven broke the silence and hugged Aurora.

“You made us worried! Where did you go? Why are you laying on the ground?!” Anna asked this time.

“What happened to you?” Richard asked too.

“Are you okay? We will bring you to the hospital before--”

“I-I’m okay, you don’t need t-to bring me to the hospital. I’m fine now, I want to go home…” They all sighed at her reply and didn't utter any words. Anna and Raven are holding Anna’s hand while walking back home.
