Jayden's POV The sun had barely risen when I returned to the house, I hadn’t slept all night, I had searched every part of the woods. Every stream, hill, and rocky path. I shifted back and forth between my human form and my wolf, trying to catch her scent. But after a while, even that started to fade. She was gone, Anastasia had left, not just the clearing, not just the forest. She was really gone. I stepped into my office slowly, my body aching, my clothes torn from running through the branches. My chest felt tight, like something heavy was sitting on it. I took a deep sighed and walked to the window and stared outside again, I was hoping for a flash of white fur or a familiar howl.
