Chapter 5: Obsession

“Doctor, Doctor, Doctor, the cardiac monitor is beeping. Patient in bed 7,” Jake yelled as much as he can, so the doctor could hear him.

“Doctorrrrrrrrrrrr!”

The Doctor walked in and hurriedly ensured that the cardiac monitor became stabilized.

Calissa was still not awake, but hopefully she would regain consciousness as soon as possible. The poison really dealt with her body system. The doctor assured that to her loved ones.

Calissa’s dad, Zayn Smith and his wife summoned courage to enter where their daughter is.

Jay and Chante hurriedly followed behind too, They all entered after the doctor finished stabilizing the monitor.

“Oh! My diva baby girl, Calissa, you’ll surely open your eyes soon to see me and your mom,” Zayn Smith said with tears trickling down his cheeks.

They were all pained. No one had foreseen this coming, especially to a well influential family.

The news had even gone viral with speculations that Calissa was poisoned because she attempted snatching someone’s husband.

Jake was standing outside, but was able to see his parents and Calissa’s parents through a vertical transparent spot on the door and how they were behaving, their demonstrations.

He even saw when Zayn’s phone fell on the floor due to the shock when he first entered to see Calissa.

Jake immediately sighted that Zayn was coming out, he swiftly adjusted how he was standing.

The door was widely opened then Zayn sighted Jake. He yelled at Jake, “Less i forget, you said no way the person that almost killed the heiress to my empire would be punished?”

“Then you must be a joker, Jake Moretti,” He barked profusely.

For the first time, Zayn mentioned Jake’s name while addressing him unlike the previous times.

Zayn always address Jake as “Son” so it was so dismaying hearing and calling him by his name.

He, Zayn became so furious when heard Jake speak back to him that way, when he said the culprit will be punished……He cleared his throat, so the words will flow out freely.

“jake, is the culprit close to you?” He asked with all seriousness and full of rage.

Enzo was extremely dumbfounded, didn’t know what to say, what if he said yes, the close relationship his family has with Zayn will be ruined.

He summoned courage, he was like “Whatever happens,” Jake whispered, that Zayn couldn’t hear him.

Zayn had to move closer to him so he can hear him clearly. Maybe he thought he heard another sentence.

Jake,” Zayn retorted as he was about falling due to low stamina

Jake quickly grabbed his right hand and lift him up and said,

“She’s my wife,” he said with his eyes shining like that of the morning sun filled with massive satisfaction.

“She lives under my roof, we agreed to be married, so i can’t see her rot in jail, never!!!”

At that moment, Zayn saw the look on his face and how serious he was s, Zayn wanted more information concerning the current situation. Jake is about to ruin the cordial relationship his family has with him.

Zayn became so restless, moving up, down in the hallway.

As he was walking side by side, he decided to reply Jake.“She’ll surely be punished Jake, your wife or whoever she is must dance to my tune or consider your position ruined and that of your family. I’ve given my order and no one dares disobey it,” Zayn said with his eyes about leaving his face…..

Jake couldn’t believe what he just heard, considering the fact that Zayn Smith owned one of the highest shares in Knight Holdings. He could make decisions and implement it abruptly.

“Pardon her! Just this one time,” he said feeling so relaxed while his hands were inside his trouser pocket.

Jay, Chante and Zayn’s wife were still with Calissa. Calissa was awake.

she woke up with shock on her face, couldn’t believe where she is……Immediately started conversing with the people she met in the room gradually and also trying to regain herself fully.

“Whaaaat……tttt am i doing here?” Calissa said while stuttering due to how weak she was. She could barely move her hand. But all her cells and organs were functioning well.

“Can someone answer me?” She said calmly with her hair scattered.

Then her mom went close to where Calissa was, held her so close to herself and then whispered to her eyes.

“We’re going home soon, my baby. Just promise me you’d stay calm and not bother your brain for now,” She said while trying so hard to control her tears from flowing down her eyes.

Calissa was so insistent, she wanted to know every detail because last she could remember was when jake and her went to the restaurant.

“Why are the Moretti’s here? Where’s jake? Where’s my dad?” She asked a lot of questions while water was dropping down from her forehead.

Her mom used her left finger tip to shut Calissa mouth. “Shuuuuuuu! I’ll definitely tell you when we get home,” She assured Calissa.

Zayn moved closer to jake and then rubbed his chest. He rubbed it continuously, Jake's heart started racing so fast. He gazed at his eyes directly and said………..

“The only reason i will succumb to what you just said is if you personally step down from your position, so my daughter can take over. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha,” His laughter was as loud as a woman in labour yelling for help.

With the way Zayn screamed, Chante had to come out immediately to verify what’s going on.

Zayn stepped back a bit and turned towards the entrance of the hallway and went further to say”or consider your adorable so called wife gone for good.” He spoke abruptly and strode away………

Chante was in full support of what Zayn said concerning jana’s brutal case. She had always wanted Calissa and Enzo together since time immemorial not until when his urgent search for bribe began.

Chante saw how jake was looking so pale, the whole situation really got to him.

She moved towards jake and held his hands so tender so he could feel extremely relaxed around her…..And then she spoke up.

“Don’t tell me it’s what I’m thinking, son?”

“It is mom!” He replied while rubbing his hair backward.

Chante couldn’t comprehend what she heard, she nodded with disbelief written all over her face.

“Not when I’m still alive, jake!!” She said with a pang in jer voice and moved past him to go meet Calissa and those with her.

Jake pushed more harder at this moment, he has started exhibiting care for jana, he couldn’t resist it. The obsession was becoming more authentic but he was still trying to hide it under the umbrella of “She’s my wife and nothing should happen to anyone living under his roof because they deserves his protection.

As Jake was about going out for some fresh air after everything that had happened. His phone buzzed and a message popped up on his phone’s screen.

“Jana drew has been sentenced to death.”
