LINCOLN I slowly opened my eyes to the beeping sound of the heart monitor, my eyelids felt too heavy…my head was pounding and I felt weak to my bones. "You're awake, Hello Mr. Lincoln," a masculine voice greeted. I turned to see a man flanked with two women wearing scrubs, looking worried. I stared at the figures blankly for some minutes till It finally clicked—I was in a hospital. "What the hell am I doing here?" I questioned jerking up from the bed. The man whom I presume was the doctor, put a hand on my shoulders, "Mr. Lincoln relax, you don't have to stress yourself," I fired him with a condescending look and pushed his hands away, "Answer me this instance!" I demanded, anger boiling inside me– I swear with the moon goddess, I would fire whoever was responsible for bringing me to this place. The doctor sighed, "Fine, you were brought in here yesterday unconscious and-" I cut him off, "Unconscious? I can't remember…" my voice trailed off– just after I fired that dimwit of a secretary. "I need to leave here, send the bills right away," I said, getting off from the bed. "You can't just leave here Mr. Lincoln, we need to run some tests before you go to ascertain that you're fit, I need to take some of your blood samples," he said. I scowled, clenching my fist in anger, who the hell does he think he is? I corked the corner of my lips in a crooked smile"You know, I'm not really one to get into a fight with someone," I paused. "But if you think you are brave enough to bring that thing…" I said looking at the syringe on the tray, held by one of the nurses. I walked close to the doctor tilted my head forward and whispered to his ears, "I'll break your hands, ask around Lincoln Brown don't threaten with mere words" I smirked evilly. The doctor looked at me and said nothing, surprise evident on his face, "But you–" I gripped his hands tightly and held it down, "You really do have the balls don't you… doctor?" I questioned, I clenched my fist ready to attack when we heard loud sobs down the hallway. He jerked out of my grip and straightened his shirt. We walked to the balcony where the sobs was coming from, a young beautiful lady was on her knees, pleading with a man in distress. From their dressing I could tell it was a cleaning company. "Please I beg you, I really need this job I'll work extra hours… Yo-you can even s***h my pay in two but please don't fire me," she begged, clasping her hands, the man's sturdy face didn't soften by her pleas– the bastard! He shook his head in defiance, "We can't afford to pay you even if we s***h your pay in three, I'm sorry," he said, his face showing no empathy. She collapsed on the floor and buried her face in her hands, I sighed and turned to walk away, "Where are you going?" I was stopped right in track by the doctor's question. I turned, a corny smile tugged at the corner of my lips, "What would you have me do, sprawl on the bed like a sick baby?" I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "You need to rest, it's already bad enough you don't want to run test–" I scoffed, "I'll be off now, adios,". I waved and turned to leave the ward. I was relieved when I stepped out of the hospital and in my haste, I accidentally bumped into the sobbing lady, pushing her slightly, She lifted her face, her brown wavy hair accentuated her oval face her, her almond shaped eyes that house the most sparkling amber resonated grace even in her state of despair there was only one word– perfection. I slipped past her and walked towards the car, my mind was a pyramid of thoughts and this stranger didn't help matters too. Once inside my car, I activated my wolf healing powers, seeking relief from the throbbing headache that had worsened. As the pain subsided, I felt a wave of weakness wash over me. I picked up my phone and called one of my staff, "Good day Sir," "Who brought me to the hospital?" I blurted out. There was silence for a while, "Have you suddenly gone deaf?" I snapped. "It was Helen, she raised an alarm when you collapsed and the only option was taking you to the hospital," I rubbed my temples, boiling with fury "Oh I see, find me another secretary" "Si-sir… what did you say?" He questioned, like he didn't just hear me clearly. I gasped feeling the hotness of my breath, the after effect of using my healing powers, I was in no mood for sentiment, "I said… find me another secretary a more capable one," "I'll do as you've said, Sir is there anything else you would like me to do for you," I took a deep breath and rested my head, "I'll not be in the office tomorrow, all jobs should be directed to my email, that'll be all for now," I said and dropped the phone. My heart thudded, and I closed my eyes for a while and quickly jerked them open when I saw the image of the lady crying at the balcony. I shook my head to get her image out of my memory, but it seemed like it was stuck… rather too early because I might never get to see her again. My mind went back to the letter I had just received from my pack, "Damnit" I yelled, hitting the streering with my wrist, I was caught up in a web and it was closing in on me. "f**k you Lincoln, f**k you even more for being a coward," I cussed, I the man who was feared by his staff, the revered Alpha of Silver moon pack, was now in a state of confusion, I who stood and faced turmoils worse than death suddenly can't do anything to salvage the situation, I didn't even know what was happening in the pack and I was still running away from my responsibilities as Alpha– such a coward! Without giving it much thoughts I started the car and drove the car in high speed to my favorite bar. Surprisingly, I caught sight of the young but pitiful looking lady who I saw at the hospital. She was sitting at the far end of the bar, taking in different shots and laughing in misery. After observing her for a while, I took off my gaze and returned them to my drink on the table. I made to take down a gulp when I felt something liquid pouring on my shirt in full force. Slowly, I lifted my head and caught sight of her, staring at me in a drunken state. She had just thrown up on me! “Who the hell are you?” I screamed as I jerked to my feet, but she was so drunk that she didn’t even realize what she had done. She was taken away by her friend, even before I could vent my entire anger on her.
