CHAPTER 13
I came home and rushed into my room, trying to avoid the Parkers as much as possible. We had eaten, then Peter walked me to the door and let me go without excessive ceremony. For sure I wouldn’t see him again. Better this way! It would be easier to go back to my everyday life. Better not having overly intimate memories of my absurd crush. Maybe I just needed a day’s break from everything else, from everyone else.
I placed myself in front of the mirror of my room. I looked numb and a bit tired. It was clear that I wasn’t pretty enough for him. Yet everyone had always found me pretty, since I was a young girl. I had never lacked suitors, on the contrary... He had treated me with indifference, instead. So why did he leave me that note? His intention seemed unequivocal to me.
