Chapter 10

"Lena, how was your summer?" Gina asked as we were walking to get our schedules and books for the new year. "It was good I spent most of it with Draven and his family." I didn't tell her by the end of the summer I wanted a few weeks away from him to have some space for myself. I was going to be seeing him a lot here at school and didn't want to get too burned out on the relationship with him. "Wow! Your mom let you spend that much time with him. Like we are 16 and she's so much chiller than my parents are." Gina was shocked by my summer. "It's not like we slept in the same room when I had sleepovers." I told her. "Yeah, your mom is way cool to let you sleep over." "Gina, it's not like I could just go home when we were farther away on trips." "Still can't believe it though." We got to the front and got our schedules and books. Gina used the spell for them to follow her while I carried my books. We stepped to the side to look over the classes we had. "Oh no," I said aloud over my classes. "What?" Gina asked. "I know I didn't do well in the future seeing class but I didn't realize I did so bad I have to retake the class again," I told her. "You had Draven with you, how is that possible?" She asked me. "That was a hard class for me to understand and now I have to do it again." I groaned. Draven came over to us. He had gotten his schedule and books. He was the same as Gina with having them follow them around. He came over and kissed me. "Anything exciting going on?" He asked, then put his arm around my shoulders. "I have to retake the class we took together," I told him, not excited about this year. "Oh no." He squeezed me closer to him in comfort. "You got this." He then kissed the side of my head on the temple. "Let's hope so," I told them. The next day was the first day of classes. I had Professor Lucas for two classes this year. I walked into the class of beginning kids. "You can go up to my office and read the books I have on my desk for you. But it is more for you to research and explore more ideas." He told me when I walked up to him. I did as I was told and went into his office. I saw the stack of books a few were for this year the advanced class I would be in later in the day. I sat on the couch he had in his office and started going through the books. By the time class was about to be over he walked into his office. "Anything exciting that you think of experimenting with?" He asked me. "No," I told him. Most of it felt the same as other potions I had done. "Okay. I'm sure you noticed that you were placed in a beginning class." He told me. "Yeah. What is up with that?" I asked. I thought it would have been better if I did the two different advanced classes. "I thought in this class you could be an aide and get used to how next year might go. It is also a way to get you a bit of a head start as well for the advanced class time if you want to spend this time doing research." He told me. It was definitely not what I had excepted this year to be planned out as.
