"Found it. Family heirloom. My grandmother's."
He examines it without touching. "That's an Eclipse artifact. Amplification and stabilization enchantments. Very powerful. Very rare."
"Is that a problem?"
"No. Actually, it could help. If you can master its use, it'll demonstrate the control the Council wants to see." He considers. "But it also changes our training approach. We can push harder. Go further. Use techniques I wouldn't normally teach second years."
"I'm ready."
"We'll see."
