Kimberly’s POV
I felt a cold bite around my wrist and as my eyes slowly opened, I could not believe I wasn’t dead yet. It took a while, but when I fully gained consciousness, I realized I was in a dim, cold and damp cell. The walls were covered with moss and the floor was slick with mud.
My head was pounding, but I managed to pull myself up and lean against the wall, shivering terribly from the cold.
“Hello?” I called out. My voice cracked and opening my mouth made my headache worse. I tried to grab my head, but I felt restrained. My hands would not go above my head. “Somebody, help me!” I hoped that this time somebody could actually hear me and do something about my plight.
I bowed my head and rested it on my knee and in a short while, I heard the tall, heavy gate in front of me open. I remained in that position, until I felt a very huge shadow casted over me. The already dark room got even darker, and I didn’t dare to lift my head. I kept wondering if calling for help was at all the right thing.
It took a while before I took a deep breath and finally lifted my head. My eyes met his cold, hard eyes, showing no emotions whatsoever. His face had a deep frown that seemed as permanent as the scars on his face. He wore a black cloak and his presence alone filled the room with intimidation and terror.
I scooted to the edge of the wall, trying to get as far away from him as was possible.
“Get up!” he ordered. I shivered from his deep baritone voice.
I hesitated. My feet were sore and could clearly not support my weight.
“I said…” I did not wait for him to finish his second statement before I jumped to my feet. The glimpse of his roar made it clear that it was unsafe to wait another second.
“Where am I?” I managed to force it out of my lips.
His lips curled into a smile. “You’ll find out,” he said, pulling me by the arm out of the dungeon.
As we walked through the corridors, heading out, I was so positive this was unfamiliar territory. It did not have Ogar written all over it. I could tell.
My whereabouts became a serious cause for worry for me.
“Where are you taking me? Where am I?” I continued asking.
“You’re going somewhere we actually have use for you. So, if you would please shut your mouth, child.” He snapped at me.
I was slightly terrified. “I’m not a child, and why would I do anything to be of use to you? Weren't you supposed to kill me?” I gulped in a huge amount of saliva after that sentence.
The man lifted his brow, an amused glint in his eye. “Is that so?” He stepped closer, looming over me.
“Ogar has been a thorn in our side for far too long. You’re the perfect tool to get him out of hiding, and you will do as I say.” he said.
I felt even more uncomfortable knowing now what they needed me for. I had one question though.
‘How did they get me away from Ogar in the first place?’
“Let me go. I don't know anything about Ogar. I'm not a werewolf." I protested.
“But he wanted to keep you!” he smirked, "So he's going to come back for you.”
I glared up at him. I highly doubted that Ogar was going to come for me. He already said it was either marriage or death, and for me to be here, meant we were not married, or so I thought.
“I will not help you. Ogar doesn't want me, just let me go!” I tried to maintain a straight face. I figured a display of courage was the only thing that was going to get me out of here.
He gave a low chuckle. “Bold words. We’ll see if you still feel that way when I’m through.” he pulled me harder.
I clenched her fists, my nails digging into my palms. ‘I had to get out of here.’
My eyes flicked to the open door, and I scouted to plot out an escape.
“Don’t even think about it,” the man warned. It was as though he could read my mind.
Two men at the door seized me. Their rough hands gripped my arms, causing me pain as I struggled–kicking and twisting in their grasp.
“Let me go!” I screamed. My voice echoed down the stone corridor.
One guard laughed, tightening his hold. “You’re not going anywhere, princess.”
Frustrated, I decided to stop fighting and followed them into the building.
The man marched to me and lifted a hand to my face. “So beautiful. I understand why Ogar wanted you all to himself."
I swallowed, baring her teeth at him, but he didn't hide his lust. He stared at me lonely, almost as bad as Ogar had.
"Let me go. Ogar doesn't want me. He won't come for me, he's a savage beast!” I didn't give up fighting.
"Shhhhh…" the man drawled out, placing a hand on her lips. “I'm sure you will make a very fine breeder. All I have to do is make you one of ours–a lycan."
My eyes widened as I heard this. I shifted, struggling against the guards helplessly.
For a second, I couldn't help but think just maybe–maybe I would have been safer in the hands of the savage werewolf alpha.
For as long as I knew, the lycans were the mergers' first and worst enemy. They killed each other brutally.
I was still searching for the words that were going to get me out of this territory alive, when…
I whimpered, scooting back at the loud roar.
“Unhand her!” a deep velvety voice rumbled, reverberating with raw power.
“My king. I'm trying to make sure the prisoner knows her place." The man who had picked me from the cell said. He was immediately filled with humility, I had to wonder who the stranger that walked in was.
They all immediately let me go, hiding their faces as they walked out, one after the other.
“Are you all right?” he asked, his voice softer now, almost hesitant. I couldn't wave off the sense of familiarity I was getting.
‘It’s probably because he was the first person to be nice to me in a very long while,’ I tried to convince myself, but I still felt like this wasn't our first encounter.
I stared at him, my mind reeling. There were no words, or at the time, I couldn't find them.
“Mate!" he growled and sprung at me, my spirit left my body.
