Serenity's Pov

1116 Words
Knock knock "Serenity! Wakey wakey!" Trinity came busting In the room hopping on my bed as I covered my face with the blankets. "Go away Trinity" I grumbled stifling a laugh. You'd swear my best friend lived here with how much she's here. "OH poo! don't be like that.... I know what this calls for!" her evil giggle made me jump up staggering out of bed. "Don't you dare. I'm awake I'm awake." I said holding my hands up. "Too late!" She said as she pounced on me tickling my sides making me squeal laughing. When she finally let go we were to busy laughing tears down our faces to notice Mr. Dale standing In the door way watching as he grinned. Cough cough. "Mr. Dale." I greeted him nodding my head. "Princess. Having a good time? Your parents are waiting for you at the breakfast table in the garden. Of course Ms. Trinity is welcome as well." He said trying to hold his serious face. "Ahem, yes of course. We'll get changed and be right there. Thank you." I said as he nodded his head and turned to leave giving Trinity a small look over his shoulder. As Trinity raided my apartment sized closet I picked out a simple yellow summer dress with white swirl designs. Did my makeup light and natural and put my hair in a high pony tail with pieces of hair framing my face before my ears. I might be royalty but simple is more my style vs all those flashy people who flaunt their wealth. I never did understand them why flaunt it? To make others feel worse about their own personal situations? I shook my head at the thoughts sighing. "Hey you, what's the heavy sigh for?" Trinity peeked her head out the closet with two summer dresses in her hands. "On another note which dress?" I shook my head "It's nothing babe, just random thoughts lately. Let's see.. well the pink is definitely all you but the pastel green brings out your hazel eyes so let's go with green." hand on my chin debating on the dresses for her she can never decide on clothes. "Okay! be ready in a second." She popped behind the changing screen and was ready shortly after she already had her makeup and hair done before coming to pounce on a sleeping me. As we walked down the hall towards the garden my mind was else where on a dream I had before being rudely awakened. Blood and fire... frowning I stared at the floor lost in thought. There hasn't been a war in over 100 years and no new dragons found since then either. So why blood and fire... The war was before my time as I'm only 25 years old and Trinity 28 years old. She's the daughter of the next wealthy family under mine the Fairways. Our families are closely connected from what I've read in history books our families were the only ones to survive the war and helped each other rebuild this town. It was then decided that my parents would continue their rein as king and queen. Trinity linked her arm with mine breaking my thoughts. " Whatever your thinking about I would put it on the backburner... Somethings wrong." My eyebrow raised as I looked around the garden finding my parents sitting at the garden table. My father stone faced while my mother was looking around nervously twirling her ring. She only did that when she was anxious Trinity was right somethings wrong. "Ah! Serenity about time. Your father and I have been waiting quite a while. Good morning Trin My adopted daughter it seems." My mother giggled giving us a kiss on each of our cheeks. "Good morning mother." We echoed in unison. Mother isn't wrong Trinity basically is a second daughter with how much she's here. We've been close ever since we were babies almost inseparable. "Sit sit come on girls, breakfast is getting cold." As we sat our food was brought out making my stomach grumble at the smell of the bacon and eggs with cheese on top. If I could choose to eat something all day for the rest of my life it would be this. As I smiled Trinity wiggled in her seat impatiently waiting to dig in. After a unusually quiet breakfast tea was served as my mother went back to fiddling with her ring. "Ahem Serenity, we um would like to talk to you about some..." My father raised his hand and cut her off. "We will discuss that with her after the meeting dear." he gave her a look that made her lower her gaze to her lap making me squint my eyes at them. "Discuss what exactly... and what meeting? with who?" I questioned staring at them. the pit in my stomach growing at the second. silence followed as no one dared answer me. "Later Serenity. You have my word." My father said as he stood holding his hand out for my mother to follow him. She gave me a apologizing sad look as she placed her hand in my father's and followed after him. "Well that wasn't at all cryptic now was it?" Trinity mumbled beside me as she watched them leave. "Trin I don't have a good feeling about this." "You got that right babes I don't either, that isn't like them in the slightest." She said chewing her bottom lip something she did when she was lost in thought herself. We made our way through the garden enjoying the sun trying to forget the breakfast situation when a trumpet sounded in the distance. "I know you heard that Serenity. Come on! let's go check it out." She grabbed my hand and took off to the upstairs balcony in a hurry. "Trin you know we shouldn't be so nosey. I don't plan to listen to another earful of father if he catches us. I grumbled as we started climbing the stairs and through the glass doors. "We're not being nosey we are umm... enjoying the view!" She giggled smiling mischievously shaking my head the Trumpet sounded closer as the first of the horses came through our gates. A frown painted my face as I stared at them, pairs of two at a time row after row filed into our land. My gaze widened at the end of the convey at a giant black wolf with purple eyes his intent to kill plastered on his face. "Serenity..." Trinity's hands shook as she watched the wolves eyes scan the land and then focus directly at us. Our hearts in our stomach as I whispered "Run... Trin.. NOW.."
