Chapter 7: Growth Against the Current During the smooth progress of the multinational company project, Li An's team reached new heights in their work, but they also faced new challenges. Constant pressure from Zhang Feng's team, high standards from external clients, and an increasing workload all put Li An and his team under unprecedented stress. Internal Friction and a Test of Trust Competition within the company grew more intense, with Zhang Feng repeatedly showcasing his team to the higher-ups and trying to criticize Li An's team's progress. Once, Li An received an email from Zhang Feng listing the problems he perceived in Li An's project, copying the company executives. After reading the email, Wang Qiang slammed his hand on the table in anger: “This guy just won’t leave us alone! He actually sent these issues directly to the higher-ups, making it seem like we did everything wrong!” Xiaoya frowned, looking worried: “Some of these issues are small, and if we had enough time, we could easily fix them. But now they’re being magnified, which makes us look unprofessional.” Seeing his team's anxious expressions, Li An spoke calmly: “Let's stay calm. Zhang Feng is indeed trying to cause trouble for us, but we can’t let his actions affect us. Our goal is to do the project well, not argue with him.” Chen Zhi nodded, “Exactly. We need to prove ourselves through results, not pay attention to his petty moves.” Li An stood up, his gaze firm: “Let's list all the issues he raised and solve them one by one. Then we’ll proactively report to the company higher-ups, showing them that we don’t ignore problems but have the ability to solve them all.” Xiaoya smiled slightly, regaining her confidence: “Li An is right. We don’t need to argue—we’ll prove ourselves through action.” Working Day and Night Li An and his team began another round of overtime, with the company lit up late into the night. The whiteboard in the meeting room was covered with improvement plans and client feedback. Wang Qiang, his face showing exhaustion, said, “This period has been so tight. I feel like I fall asleep as soon as I get home every night.” Xiaoya handed him a cup of hot tea, smiling: “Thanks for all your hard work, Wang Qiang. Let’s keep going—we’re almost there.” Chen Zhi joked, “Once this project is done, I’ll treat everyone to a big meal. We deserve a good break.” Li An looked at them, feeling immense gratitude. He knew that it was this mutual support within the team that allowed them to push past their limits again and again. Taking a deep breath, he said to everyone, “As long as we keep working hard, we’ll overcome this challenge and achieve victory.” Crucial Communication with the Client At a critical point in the project, Li An decided to initiate an in-depth conversation with Peter, the project manager from the multinational client. Peter had always had high expectations for the project, and his standards were extremely strict. Li An knew that this conversation would be key to whether the project could proceed smoothly. When the video call began, Peter got straight to the point: “Li An, I’ve noticed some delays in your progress, especially in the market data integration. You’re still falling short of our goals.” Li An replied calmly, “Mr. Peter, we are aware of this and are working hard to improve. I’ve also prepared some new data analysis methods that I’d like to discuss with you to see if they meet your expectations.” Peter raised an eyebrow, surprised: “Oh? What new approach do you have?” Li An presented the improved analysis methods to Peter and explained each step in detail. As Li An spoke, Peter's expression gradually shifted from doubt to approval. Finally, he nodded: “I must admit, these improvements show your efforts. Keep up this progress—I look forward to seeing the final results.” Li An exhaled in relief, smiling: “Thank you for your approval. We will do our best.” Team Breakthrough and Growth A few days later, the team finally completed the last part of the project. Everyone was so tired they could barely stand, but smiles lit up their faces. Wang Qiang, rubbing his shoulder, said, “It’s finally done—this feels amazing!” Xiaoya raised her cup: “Let’s all celebrate together—our efforts have paid off.” Chen Zhi laughed, “I remember promising to treat everyone to a big meal. Tonight’s the night, and no one is allowed to refuse!” Li An looked at his energetic teammates, feeling immense pride. They had gone through countless difficulties and faced countless challenges, but in the end, they persevered, using their hard work and wisdom to complete this challenging task. He said to everyone, “This project has made each of us grow a lot—not just in terms of professional skills but also in our attitude toward challenges and trust in each other. The road ahead is still long, but I believe that as long as we stay united, there’s nothing we can’t achieve.” New Opportunities and Challenges The project's success once again established Li An’s team’s reputation within the company. The higher-ups praised their performance and decided to designate them as one of the company's key development teams. This was not only recognition of their work but also trust in their future potential. However, Li An also knew that with increased responsibility, future challenges would be even more daunting. Standing by the office window, looking at the skyscrapers in the distance, his heart filled with determination. He knew that this was just a stage in their growth, and higher peaks awaited them.
