Chapter 4: Pressure and Breakthrough After several weeks of intense training and task assessments, Li An and his team gradually developed a sense of synergy, and trust among them deepened. However, new challenges soon followed. This time, the company assigned their group a highly challenging real-world project, requiring them to develop a complete marketing strategy for a client company within three weeks and complete an initial implementation plan. The Reality of a Great Challenge At the project kickoff meeting, the company executives made it clear that this client project was extremely important and crucial to the company's future business expansion. Coach Liu Gang emphasized again, “You are no longer trainees; you are now executing this project as members of the company. Any mistake could have serious consequences.” This pressure weighed heavily on each member, making the atmosphere within the team particularly tense. Back in the meeting room, Chen Zhi calmly said, “We all know the importance of this task, and we must give it our all. But don’t panic—we will break it down and solve it step by step.” Li An looked at the whiteboard, which was gradually being filled with task breakdowns, and felt a sense of responsibility like never before. Li An was in charge of market research and data analysis, a massive workload. To obtain the most accurate market data, he had to communicate with the client company multiple times to gather firsthand information. Li An had never dealt with external clients before, making this a huge challenge for him. When he first faced the client, his palms were sweaty. He took a deep breath, trying to appear calm. He didn’t want to let the team down. Struggling with the Client The first meeting with the client did not go well. The client representative, Manager Zhou, was an experienced and very demanding individual who continuously questioned Li An's research methods and the logic of his data analysis. Li An was left speechless at times, and the sense of inferiority returned—he felt as though he was standing on the edge of a knife, one misstep away from losing balance. Back at the company, Li An looked visibly dejected. Xiaoya noticed and asked with concern, “Li An, are you okay?” Li An shook his head and sighed, “I feel like I messed up. We might not be able to get enough data; the client doesn’t trust me.” Xiaoya patted his shoulder and said, “It’s okay; this was just the first time. Everyone fails sometimes. What matters is that we learn from our failures and find ways to improve. We can adjust our communication strategy and try again together.” Hearing Xiaoya's words, Li An's sense of loss gradually transformed into new motivation. He reorganized his thoughts, analyzed the client's needs, identified the problems from the previous communication, and worked with Chen Zhi and Wang Qiang to develop a new communication strategy. A few days later, Li An met with Manager Zhou again, this time fully prepared, with detailed data support and logical reasoning, breaking the client’s needs into key points that could be addressed gradually. This time, Manager Zhou's attitude changed. He acknowledged Li An's efforts and agreed to provide more data support. This relieved Li An immensely, and his confidence grew. He knew that he had overcome a major psychological hurdle. Team Support and Growth Under Pressure As the project progressed, time became increasingly tight, and everyone in the team felt the immense pressure. Several days of overtime and high-intensity work left everyone physically and mentally exhausted. Wang Qiang became irritable, even getting into an argument with Chen Zhi during a discussion. Li An watched, feeling anxious, but he knew what they needed most now was calmness and unity. Li An took the initiative to talk to Wang Qiang: “Wang Qiang, I know you’re tired—everyone is. But we’re a team, and only by working together can we complete this project well. I believe we can do it.” Wang Qiang was silent for a moment before finally sighing and nodding, “Sorry, I was too impulsive earlier. Thanks, Li An.” Li An's calmness and determination gave the team more confidence. Xiaoya also brought her unique creative design, adding fresh ideas to the project, which made the plan more attractive. As the team leader, Chen Zhi, though under tremendous pressure himself, gradually realized that Li An had become an indispensable member of the team. Breakthrough and Transformation Eventually, the team completed all the preparations the day before the project deadline. Late at night, they gathered in the meeting room for a final review of the plan. Chen Zhi looked at everyone's tired yet resolute faces and smiled, “No matter the outcome, I’m proud of each of you. We’ve given it our all.” The next day, the team formally presented their plan to the company executives and the client representatives. Li An’s data analysis part earned Manager Zhou's approval, and Xiaoya's design added great value to the entire plan. The presentation went smoothly, and in the end, their proposal received high praise from the client. After the presentation, Manager Zhou approached Li An and extended his hand, “Your proposal is excellent, especially your data analysis—it’s very convincing.” Li An shook his hand, filled with a sense of accomplishment and pride. This project not only brought significant growth in his professional skills but also made him realize that growth under pressure is key to transformation. A New Journey The success of the project brought honor to the team, and Li An received special praise from Coach Liu Gang for his outstanding performance during the project. Liu Gang said to him, “Li An, you’ve grown from that hesitant character into the backbone of the team. I’m proud of your progress.” Li An stood by the large company window, looking at the brilliantly lit city outside, his heart filled with anticipation for the future. He knew he had completed an important journey, but it was just the beginning. The challenges ahead would be even tougher, but he was ready to face any difficulties and opportunities that came his way.
