"Okay, Terry..." I said softly to appease her. There's no point fighting with her for Clark's sake. She misunderstood the situation anyway. What's there to explain? "Now, please excuse me. I need to go to class." I stepped on the side and walked without waiting for her reply. Unlike in the past, I don't want to wait for her to say "yes" before moving. Why should I?
