~Racheal~ This week had definitely started off on the wrong foot, and I had certainly seen it coming a mile away from the moment the weekend ended. At the moment though, Cain and I were currently enclosed in an office, which happened to belong to the head doctor at the athletic center. Uncle had informed the both of us that our presence was required, and neither of us had hesitated to show up. However, 15 minutes later, Devon and I were glued to our seats, shell shocked at what the doctor had just revealed. Devon was the first to recover. "What do you mean by hip exercises? Are those actually necessary?" As soon as I heard him, I recovered too. "Is it really necessary though?" I echoed his question, obviously appalled at how everything was progressing so far. The thought of making body contact with Devon had unwanted shivers crawling under my skin. There was nothing wrong with helping a patient recover, but this was Cain we were talking about. Dr. Andrew, as he had earlier introduced himself, leaned forward on his desk, studying the both of us. "Perhaps you really don't understand what I'm saying yet, Mr. West and Mrs, Charles. So, I'll put in detail." "While Mr. West's injuries may not be severe, he still requires to keep in shape considering he is a top athlete. That's why we have decide to incorporate a bit of physical therapy in his schedule. It's nothing excessive. It's only there to keep his muscles active." Dr. Andrew paused before he continued. "Mr. West here will start his sessions here every morning, four days a week." "Well, what does that have to do with me?" I asked, obviously confused. If that is why he had asked for our presence, it would only make sense if Cain was the only one who was here at the moment. Right? The doctor turned to me. "You're his care taker, correct?" "Right." "Well, it's only expected of you to learn how to do his exercises correctly, since you'll be doing them every evening." I was completely dumbfounded. I turned sharing a look with Cain. I could tell he wasn't happy about this either. Lately the atmosphere around him had changed, and more than once, I had caught him staring in my direction. However, we had both ignored it, behaving like everything was normal. Ever since that overnight camp, the tension between us had definitely skyrocketed, but since we had both put it down as a rule as not to interfere in each other's businesses, we had presumably ignored it. He often stared at me like he wanted to say something to me, but he always looked away the first chance he got, the moment I looked in his direction. But now that the doctor had added physical therapy to his recovery schedule,. . . I knew s**t was only going to get a lot more stuffier than it was. And body contact with Cain was most definitely not on my yearly or my-life-ever-after to do list. I groaned inwardly as I continued to process everything and the situation began to sink-in. Cain hadn't said a word since the doctor's 'prescription' and I could only assume he was having an equally hard time as I was, trying to process this new information. Dr. Andrew, obviously oblivious to my inner dialogue, continued, "Miss Charles, I earlier happened to request your schedules. I'm hoping none of you have had anything to occupy you this morning?" I shook my head. I only had one afternoon class today. From the corner of my eyes, I watched as Cain shook his head. "Splendid." The doctor grinned. "If you don't mind me, please follow me." Like broken records, we rose from the leather and wooden chairs and then followed him right out the door. "Uhm. . .excuse me, where are we going?" Dr. Andrew turned to me like I had grown another head. "To start your training of course." Yeah. I guess this was actually reality. 30 minutes later, Cain and I were screaming down each other's throats. Mr. Grumpy pants was still complaining about how I was going about all this 'massage' thing and how it was going and it was starting to get on my nerves. In a span of 15 minutes, this was the 3rd time he was 'saying' that I wasn't doing it right. I hadn't even made any progress yet but this entitled grown up ass of a man was complaining like the privileged thing he was. "Look, I already have an injured leg. I'm not trying to have my shoulder dislocated by you, just because you can't do something right. I'm not trying to be a cripple, so I would actually appreciate it if you did your job correctly." I rolled my eyes, fuming. "Oh really? You're a such a crybaby. I was doing exactly as the nurse was doing and exerting just as much pressure. If it weren't for your spoilt stuck up ass, neither of us wouldn't be here anymore." Okay, fine. Maybe I was really frustrated and had put in a little more pressure than required in that one move with my elbow, but I was not going to admit it. He kinda deserved it anyway. "Well, I'm at least not miss 'I'm such a perfect princess, I never do nothing wrong" looking down on everyone just because things don't go your way." "Guys, please let's calm down. . ." The nurse that Dr. Andrews had left here to instruct me begged, but we both simultaneously ignored her. Alright. I was starting to get real pissed off. "Way to go, you manwhore." "What did you say to me?" With narrowed eyes, Cain glared at me. "I said, you're a f**king manwhore." I repeated, much more confident than normal, but I would probably regret it the moment I cooled down. Right now, I didn't not care. "You know what, Racheal? I might be a manwhore, but I'm not a stuck b*tch that thinks she's too righteous for anyone other than the people she deems worthy just because she listened to a couple of lies." "I might be a manwhore, but I'll admit that as truth, unlike the likes of you, who only listens to lies and accepts them as truth just for their own convenience." By the time Cain was done, the room echoed with silence as we both stared at each other, the both of us breathing hard. Over the years, Cain and I had simultaneously said a lot of mean things to each other, but I had never heard him say anything like what he had right now. However, my pride and anger were too strong to let me decipher what he meant, so I wasted no time as I wripped off the gloves on my hands and then stomped right off the room. It was too early on a Monday for me to deal with any of this. **** It was just a few minutes past five o'clock in the evening and I was done with the only class I had for today, and I was currently lounging in my old room with Kayla. "Urgh, I'm officially going insane." I lay on my back, staring at the bare white ceiling as I larmented and retold this morning's events to her. The screen light of her new galaxy phone cast her beautiful face with a somewhat blueish-white light as she scrolled through a new designer website that was trending among the girlies on social media. "Mmmhmm," she muttered absentmindedly, as her her black nail polished finger kept on scrolling her screen. I leaned on my elbow, narrowing my eyes at her. "Are you even listening to me?" "Of course, I am." She smiled sweetly before reverting her eyes back onto the screen of her phone. "I'm just not surprised that you're going on and on about Cain again. There's always something new about him every week. However, since you began living with him, it had been awfully quiet between you too. I'm kinda glad that's not the case." She chuckled when she noticed my scowl. "I knew it wouldn't be long for the both of you to be at your throats once again." "I'm your best friend. You're supposed to take my side and take pity on me." I complained, pouting as I crossed my arms across my chest and sinking further in my bed. "You're not supposed to be ganging up on me." "Look, if it makes you feel any better, you will get to feel those hard muscles under your fingers. I would really kill to be in your place if it meant I would be caressing such a hot body." I made a gagging gesture. "You're not helping at all. Besides, you're totally hopeless if all you're currently thinking about are male bodies." Kayla giggled, coming to sit beside me. The bed bounced as she did so, shortly before she threw her arms around me. "On a serious note though, I think you need a very gigantic distraction from Cain. I think what you need is a very hot boyfriend." "I don't need a boyfriend at all." "Yes, you do. You need to go on a date and have other interesting things to talk about other than Cain. My ears are starting to bleed." I opened my mouth to protest but she shushed me. "We will not talk about it if you promise to go on just one date." I opened my mouth but she shushed me again. "Uh- uh-uh. . . think about it clearly. You only have to go on one date. If you don't, I swear I won't stop bringing it up." I groaned before giving in. "Fine. But just one. Only one." She hugged me tightly as she squealed excitedly. "I promise you won't regret it." "I promise I'll make it worthwhile." With one last tight hug, Kayla let go of me. "Well, enough with the dates and stuff. Why don't we watch a movie and relax?" "Now, that's an idea I really approve of." We both laughed, and Kayla went to grab a few movies we could both watch. We had both agreed on a comedy romance. Suddenly, my phone rang and I proceeded to grab my purse and pull it out. The caller id was from the hospital, and I smiled, knowing it was my mom. However, that all changed as soon as I received the call. "Hello, am I speaking to Miss St. Charles?" "Yes. This is her." I responded curtly, suddenly feeling nervous. "I'm calling about your mother. I'm afraid she's been involved in an overdosing incident."
