ARIA’S POV Oh s**t. My head was throbbing badly. For a few seconds, I didn't know where I was. The room seemed unfamiliar, the sheets were not mine, and there was a jacket thrown over the back of a chair that definitely hadn't belonged to me. Then I turned my head and saw the black leather boots beside the door, and everything came rushing back. I was in a private room at the biker club. Oh god… the decision I'd made because I had been desperate to get away from Damon for one night. I squeezed my eyes shut and groaned quietly into the pillow, immediately wishing I could rewind the last twelve hours and make a better decision. How the hell had I managed to sleep with three men who looked like they could ruin me? My cheeks burned as I pushed myself upright and looked around the room. “What the hell were you thinking, Aria?” I whispered to myself, rubbing both hands over my face. I needed to get out of here. Fast. My hand drifted to the small roll of cash I’d shoved into my bag in the middle of the night—money I’d taken from the jacket on the chair while the brothers were still asleep. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to get me a few nights somewhere safe. The second I touched it, guilt and fear twisted together in my stomach. If they found out… How the hell had I managed to sleep with three men who looked like they could ruin me? I needed to get out of here. I reached for my clothes and stopped. They weren't where I'd left them. Oh? I hadn't expected that. Whatever else I could say about the brothers, I hadn't expected them to bother drying my clothes or leaving me food. It was such an ordinary thing to do that it somehow made the whole situation more confusing. I picked up the glass and drank half of the water before setting it down again, then grabbed my clothes and hurried into the bathroom to dress up. There was no way I was sitting around waiting for them to come back here. I needed to leave before they got back. A thick roll of cash peeked from the inside pocket… I could feel my heart slamming so hard against my ribs. Before I could talk myself out of it, I reached out, pulled the cash free, and shoved it deep into my bag. Guilt and fear twisted together in my stomach the second the door clicked shut behind me. If they found out… The clubhouse wasn’t as loud as last night and there were only a few people milling about. No sign of the brothers. Good. I started down carefully, keeping my head lowered as I moved through the corridor. I didn’t know where the brothers were, and I didn’t particularly care. The only thing I wanted was to get outside before anybody noticed me… or the empty spot in that jacket pocket. I had almost reached the main entrance when a siren blasted outside. I stopped dead as another followed immediately after it. Soon, it sounded as though the entire building had been surrounded. My eyes blew open. “What the…” Suddenly, the front doors burst open. Police officers flooded into the clubhouse before I could even finish the sentence, shouting commands over one another as several members scrambled to their feet. Oh s**t! “Everybody stay where you are! Hands where we can see them!” A police officer yelled, his finger trained on the trigger of the pistol in his hand. “Nobody move!” My heart slammed against my ribs and I stumbled backward, clutching my bag against my chest as officers moved through the room. I hadn’t even done… Oh god, had they found out that I had stolen? Then one of the officers spotted me. “You. Stop.” I froze as he pointed directly at me. “Step away from the door and put your hands where I can see them.” “I didn’t do anything,” I lied immediately, my voice shaking. “I didn’t say you did. Step away from the door.” He ordered. A sigh escaped my lips, I hadn’t been caught. I obeyed, slowly moving away from the entrance while trying to understand how I’d gone from trying to sneak out of a biker clubhouse to standing in the middle of a police raid. The officers began separating everyone and I kept looking toward the stairs, expecting one of the brothers to appear, but the officers had already blocked off the hallway. An officer grabbed my arm and guided me toward a table near the wall. “Sit.” “I need to go.” I begged, my voice cracking. He raised a brow, his hand resting on the holster of his gun. “Calm down, ma’am, we just want to ask you a few questions.” I nodded, swallowing. The officer asked basic details such as my name and why I was there. Then the questioning shifted into more serious ground… weapons, drugs and the likes. I lied, “I came here for work.” The officer across from me frowned but seemed to get it so he wrote it down. The officer studied me for several seconds before leaning back. "Say, you've met the owners, yes? The triplets? How long have you known them?" "Just last night, I did what I was paid to do and that’s it." His expression changed slightly, but he didn't ask. Eventually, after what felt like hours, the questions stopped. They took my name and number, warned me not to interfere with the investigation and finally told me I was free to leave. I didn't wait for them to repeat it before I dashed out the door, thanking every entity I could think of. As soon as cold air hit my face, I relaxed slightly, catching my breath. Police vehicles surrounded the clubhouse. Officers were everywhere as men from the club were being brought outside one after another, their hands restrained behind them. After I was a safe distance away, I noticed the brothers being led out. They were being escorted out separately, surrounded by officers, and somehow they looked completely different from the men I'd seen the night before. Gone was the teasing smiles on their faces, the look of pleasure on their faces as they drove into me. All I saw on their faces now was rage. I couldn't hear what they were saying, and they couldn't see me from where I stood. Good. One brother was pushed toward a vehicle first while the other followed. The third turned his head briefly as an officer guided him forward, and something in my stomach twisted when I recognized those dark green eyes from the night before. I stood there until the vehicles pulled away. Only when they disappeared around the corner did I realize my hands were shaking. I had spent one night with three men and by morning, they were being taken away in handcuffs. Who really were they? I couldn't go back home. Damon had already made it clear that he wasn't going to let me walk away from him simply because I'd decided I was done. If he knew where I was, he'd come looking and if he found out I'd spent the night at the clubhouse, I didn't even want to imagine what he'd do. So I stayed with Emily. I needed everything to settle and I needed to make sure Damon wasn't still looking for me. It was only going to be for a while because the money I had stolen was enough to start a life someplace else, far as way form Damon and those men. A few days later, I realized I was getting sick. My skin was pale and I felt the urge to retch often. After breakfast, I couldn't hold it in anymore, so I rushed to the bathroom and emptied the contents of my stomach into the toilet bowl. Heaving, I stared at myself in the mirror afterward, pale and exhausted. My period was late. There was no way it was what I was thinking. But to be sure, I bought the test that afternoon. I hid it beneath my jacket on the walk back to Emily's house, even though nobody was following me. My hands shook so badly that I almost dropped it twice before I got inside. She was in the kitchen when I walked through the door and frowned when I walked in. "Aria?" Without answering, I walked past her and locked myself in the bathroom. Minutes later, I was sitting on the closed toilet seat staring at the result. Positive. I stared at it until my vision blurred. "No." Oh god. My hand went to my stomach without thinking. I was… pregnant. And I knew exactly who the fathers were. The brothers… the universe hated me because how could one night of recklessness led to a baby. For the first time since the raid, I thought seriously about finding them. I could ask about the case and I could find out where they were being held. Perhaps I could tell them. They had a right to know. I sat back down and pulled my knees toward myself, staring at the test in my hand. No, I couldn't even do that. They were going to prison and I didn't know for how long. I didn't know what they'd been accused of, or whether they'd ever get out. Worse… if they ever found out about the money I had borrowed from that jacket, I wasn’t sure they’d want anything to do with me… or the baby. And then there was Damon. This was a total mess. But I knew what I had to do. Aria had to disappear… that name was gone for good.
