As soon as the enemy withdraws from the battle I hurried to the safehouse where Scarlett was. I've made up my mind today is the day that I'll confess my love to her.
I did a little victory dance and howled while celebrating our pack's big win.
Then I saw Caison hold Scarlett's naked body in his arms.
"What happened to her?" I asked in a voice I hardly recognized as my own.
I felt my legs give in underneath me as I reached Caison. I stroked my hand along her face then I gently took her from Caison's hold and placed her onto my lap. Just looking at her badly wounds was enough to bring me to tears.
"She fought off the wolves and got injured because of me... I'm so sorry I couldn't protect her." I heard Caison's teary voice say.
"Don't blame yourself... It wasn't your fault." Ral
