Chapter 5 The Aggressive Pursuit

854 Words
The Brown family, the most prominent clan in Sophiapolis, was unmatched in power and wealth.  Recently, rumors have been circulating that the Brown family's young master, revered as Mr. Brown, has returned from abroad and taken over the family business with decisive actions.   Owen continued, "The Brown family has recently acquired a piece of land from the government and plans to build a large-scale resort. The design project is currently open for public bidding."   He turned his gaze to Yuri. "Yuri, you and Zahara will each lead a team to compete for this project. If you can successfully secure it, I will entrust you with half of the Lewis family's assets to manage, and the remaining portion will be distributed after my passing. If Zahara wins, you will take your girlfriend and leave the Lewis family, never to mention inheriting the family business again. Or you can completely break it off with her, settle down with Zahara, and manage the company affairs together. This opportunity is fair and just. Whether you can seize it or not depends entirely on you."   Upon hearing this, Yuri could hardly conceal his joy. "Grandfather Owen, rest assured, I will definitely win and allow you to entrust the Lewis family business to me with peace of mind." After saying this, Yuri deliberately glanced at Zahara, with a challenging look in his eyes. However, Zahara remained unusually calm, calmly enjoying the food on the table, her eyes revealing a hint of disdain, as if Yuri's challenge wasn't even worth acknowledging.   With the most important matter settled, the atmosphere became particularly peaceful afterward. After the family dinner, Yuri rushed off to find his beloved Yasmine. Owen didn't stop him, but after watching him leave, he turned to Zahara and said kindly, "Zahara, don't worry about the bidding. With your talent, if you just do what you're capable of, that boy is no match for you." At this point, Grandfather Owen paused slightly, then changed his tone. "However, even if you lose, it's okay. I'll make sure you're looked after."   Hearing these words, Zahara felt a warmth surge in her heart, and her eyes became a bit moist. Although Yuri had caused her a lot of grief, Owen was truly good to her, even better than her own parents. Zahara composed herself a little, then nodded firmly and promised. "Grandfather Owen, don't worry. I will definitely win. I won't allow the Lewis family business to fall into someone else's hands."   Hearing this, Owen smiled with satisfaction. "Good, I believe you." After their conversation, Zahara returned to her room to rest early.   The next day, Zahara immersed herself fully in work, collecting various relevant materials and, based on the specific requirements of the announcement, leading the team to start creating initial design sketches. After several days of intense work and unremitting effort, the team achieved substantial progress. To reward everyone for their hard work, Zahara generously organized a team-building activity, taking everyone to relax together. Due to the lively atmosphere of the gathering, she unconsciously had a few extra drinks, lifting her spirits considerably.   Midway through, feeling the private room was a bit stuffy, Zahara got up to leave, wanting to get some air in the hallway. However, just as she stood still for a moment, she sensed a cold presence behind her, as if someone was secretly watching her from the shadows. Zahara looked around alertly but didn't notice anything unusual. Nevertheless, she decided to return to the private room immediately.   Unexpectedly, just as she turned a corner, she ran into Yasmine and Yuri. Zahara couldn't help but frown, muttering to herself, "No wonder I felt something was off, it's these two lowlifes." She couldn't help but mutter under her breath. 'What bad luck.' And then she prepared to leave, ignoring the two of them.   However, Yuri suddenly turned on her, immediately accusing her without mercy. "Zahara, how dare you follow me?" Before Zahara could respond, Yasmine pretentiously explained on her behalf. "Yuri, don't blame Zahara. After all, she is your wife. It's only natural that she wants to see you. It's all my fault. I couldn't help falling in love with you back then, which is why things have become like this. Maybe... we should break up. Although I'll be very sad, it's better than all three of us suffering."   Hearing this, Yuri's anger instantly flared up. "Zahara, I've already made it crystal clear to you. I will only love Yasmine in this lifetime. Stop pestering me!"   "Me? Clinging to you?" Zahara was amused, her laughter tinged with sarcasm. "Aren't you getting a bit ahead of yourself? You're just a broke, ugly old man. Any of the hot male models here are way better than you." Zahara's words carried an increasingly obvious mockery, her lips curling slightly. "Alright, stop making a fuss. Instead of wasting your breath, you'd better think about how to leave with your Yasmine after losing to me, without making a complete fool of yourself!"   With that, Zahara stormed off, walking towards her own private room. However, as she passed by a room, the door suddenly flew open.
