CHAPTER SIXFor a moment the crowd could only stare at what had occurred. Then pandemonium broke out. The man who had fired the gun was struck down onto the ground by several men. There was a roar of fury at what had just happened from the whole crowd. It was then that the Russians began to run from the Square and rushed towards the gates of the City. Too late the soldiers on guard outside the Houses of Parliament let off their guns as a warning. Most of the men, who were not rich or up to date enough to have a small pistol, carried a knife as protection. Now they drew them out and struck down every Russian they encountered.
