Chapter sixteen: Matthew

I woke up with Mira’s body right next to mine. Her arm was splayed over my chest and her leg was wrapped around mine. She was still asleep, smiling as she dreamed. Her body was warm and naked, and I could feel my body react to hers, but I didn’t want to wake her. We would have plenty of time for that later.

I kissed her hair and took a deep breath, inhaling her scent.

That hunger I had been feeling was gone, and I had never been this relaxed before in my life. Mira had tamed the beast in me in just one night. Well, technically it was two nights, but that was a minor detail.

I looked down at her sleeping face, smiling like an i***t. She had put me at complete ease last night and all those months of chasing her didn’t seem to matter now. She was here, with me, willingly. She had accepted me as her mate. I closed my eyes, letting the reality fill me with happiness.

“Mmm… Matthew” I heard Mira say.

I looked down at her again, but her eyes were still closed. Was she talking in her sleep?

I looked over on the clock on her desk, when I noticed what looked like a cable sticking out of the drawer.

We were not supposed to have personal electronic devices except for phones. However, she wouldn’t be the first wolf I knew that had broken that rule. I also knew that alpha Adal was extremely lenient when it came to this sort of thing. The main reason for banning personal devices was the risk of someone hacking into our network and gaining access to our personal information.

The time on the clock read 9:30 am, and I couldn’t remember the last time I had slept this late. Then again, it had been a while since I had been up quite so late, and I was severely sleep deprived.

“What are you looking at?” I heard Mira ask. She was fully awake now and moved her head to look in the direction I was looking. Her eyes went wide when she saw the cable sticking out of her drawer. Her head whipped around, and I could see the terror in her eyes. I smiled and kissed her. There was no way I was going to tell anyone about this. I would never do anything to harm her.

I could feel her relax and I pulled her close. I felt my body react to hers again and pressed against her.

“I have to pee” she said, giving me an apologetic look

“Fine” I growled, letting go of her

She got out of bed, went to the bathroom and closed the door.

I saw the bags on the floor, the ones from her shopping trip with Roxy yesterday. I located the Victoria’s Secret one and picked it up. I knew I wasn’t supposed to be snooping, but I couldn’t help myself. I had seen two pairs of her panties, and both had been plain and gray. Victoria’s Secret didn’t sell that kind of stuff as far as I knew. I pulled out a bright red babydoll with little red hearts all over the bra part. I could feel my eyes go big. I did not expect this. I placed it gently on the bed next to me and pulled out a black lace corset with a matching thong. I could feel my mouth start to water as I imagined her wearing these.

“Enjoying yourself?” I dropped the black lace panties I had just picked up and looked at Mira. She was leaning against the doorframe, looking at me with playful condescension.

“Uhm…” I said, but I had nothing to say for myself. I had been enjoying myself. “Yeees?” I said, putting on the most innocent smile I could. It wasn’t until then I realized she hadn’t put any clothes on.

“Wanna try this on?” I said and lifted the red babydoll. She smiled, shook her head, and rolled her eyes. She walked over to me and snagged the babydoll from my hand. She rummaged around in the bag until she found a matching pair of red lace hipster panties. She turned and walked back to the bathroom. My jaw dropped when she winked and closed the door. If someone had told me three days ago that Mira knew how to do any of the things, she’d done the past 24 hours, I would not have believed them. I had been so stunned about her actions that I didn’t even touch her naked body when it was right beside me.

My mouth went dry as I was sitting there, staring at the door until she opened it again.

She raised an arm and leaned against the doorframe again, this time in a much more seductive way. I jumped out of the bed and was in front of her in a second. I picked her up and pressed her against the wall, kissing her mouth, her neck, her shoulder. I was getting hard, slowly rubbing my pelvis against her. She was moaning softly in my ear. I pulled her panties to the side and was just about to push into her when someone knocked on the door. This could not be happening.

“Ignore it” I told Mira and she nodded.

Little did that help as the person shouted through the door; “Mira!” It was Roxy. This could just not be happening. This was the second time she interrupted us like this.

“What is it?” I heard Mira answer. Damn! I put her down and she gave me another apologetic look.

“We have patrol in 30 minutes” Roxy said

“s**t! I’d forgotten about that” Mira said quietly, “I will be out in 10 minutes” she called to Roxy.

“I’ll wait for you down in the dining hall” Roxy answered.

“10 minutes?” I said to Mira with a sly smile, arching an eyebrow

“Forget it!” She said with a smile. “I am going to change into something more practical and splash some water on my face”

I pressed her against the wall again and kissed her but released her right after. We both got dressed and walked out the door. When we got to the stairs Mira grabbed my shirt and pulled me into a long kiss.

“Come by again tonight” she said

I felt my heart skip a beat. “Ok” I answered. I stood paralyzed for a moment.

I watched her walk down the stairs as I leaned against the wall. Halfway down she turned around and smiled at me. “Mate” she said to my mind before she turned and walked out of sight.

The word resonated through my entire being.
